Exchanges - Decentralised vs Centralised

RobbyCannard ·
I had my first experience using a decentralised exchange this week and was pleasantly surprised! I used Switcheo and purchased using my Neon Wallet. It was a simple task of creating a burn wallet and purchasing the Switcheo without my Neo leaving my Neon Wallet. Yes, the interface isn't yet on the level of Binance, but it is very early days. As a new DEX, Switcheo was brilliant to use and it opened my eyes up to why there is a ridiculous amount of hype around the upcoming Nex exchange which...

Neon wallet inflating NRVE value by more than a factor of 4

Malkazoid ·
Right now, the Neon wallet is showing NRVE as being worth $0.0317 USD. The only exchange with any volume at all (Bilaxy), is showing the value of NRVE as 0.0067. This gap is far too big to be due to any combination of volatility and updating frequency in the Neon app. NRVE hasn't been worth anywhere near $0.0317 USD since September 2018. I wonder what is going on?

Do you know Andreas Antonopoulos? He's what we could call a "blockchain evangelist" and I really like the vision he has about it. You can find his talks on his youtube channel .

I'm trading at centralised exchangers like bittrex and binance only because I like user-friendly interface. I don't know so many about DEX but i am going to take a look on Neonexchange.

Yes definitely, as decentralised exchanges evolve, they will bring the user-friendliness of centralised exchanges but with the added security of being a DEX. The future is bright

I am keen to try a DEX, I agree with @Sergei in that I like the user-friendly interfaces of centralised exchanges. It good that you had a good experience, it gives me more confidence to try a DEX as I like the security it brings, although I need to buy some Neo first if I am to try Switcheo

DEX are about 1-2% of the exchanges and most are somewhat annoying to use. The worst being ether delta-stay away. DEX are a long way from being mainstream and we DO NOT need that right now. We need binance or at least houbi Whit

This is an interesting discussion from a personal point of view. Wallets and Exchanges today remind me of the very first internet tools which were clunky and usable only by true techies. When the first graphical browser came out exactly 25 years ago it opened the market a thousandfold. I see that happening now with wallets and exchanges designed for the masses. Crypto for non-crypto people ...

I agree,I find it fascinating on a personal level too, however I think wallet keys are still too technical and need to be packaged up into a nicer entity so you aren't dealing with private or encrypted keys. Then I think we will truly see the doorway open to non-crypto people !

@Dr. Rick There are many initiatives and progress taking place as we speak to make Decentralized Exchanges more appealing and accessible to the masses. Switcheo will shortly be releasing a new UI which will be more friendly to interact with, along with Ledger support being added in the short to medium term. NEX is certainly rumoured to have FIAT to Crypto functionality which is a huge step in the right direction, however Switcheo might steal a march if they can progress at their current...

@RobbyCannard I look forward to the new Switcheo ui, I hadn't realised they had planned an update so soon after launch, Ledger support in my opinion is a must and is that step required to bring it to the masses.

Yes @Dr. Rick , I don't mean to sound like I am promoting Switcheo but I truly believe they are on the right track and have stolen a march on NEX. It is easy to say Switcheo looks substandard compared to Binance, but you must remember Binance has been around a LOT longer, give it a chance. I believe NEX will be a lot more polished and provide an experience very similar to Binance, however I can also see Switcheo being extremely quick to evolve. I am truly excited to see these DEX's progress,...

Hi, Akshay! You will need the neonwallet, as well. But you can use your private key from neotracker with neonwallet. You will see all your NEO from neotracker that way. http://neonwallet.com/

If I'm not mistaken, you actually have to wait for the next update (the wallet is v1.3 iirc) and that update should be out prior to the public sale on Feb 20. They also opened up registration for whitelist and KYC so make sure you do those first! LOL

When you log in to your Neon Wallet ( by clicking the upper left square in the original post's attached image ) there is also a "participate in token sale" button on your actual wallet screen, at the bottom. You'll have to login to your wallet before you can participate. I don't know what hitting the lower right button will do if you're not logged in?

Its amazing how blockchain and crypto blew up in 2017. Prior to this most people thought that Bitcoin was for drug dealers and assassins. Every time someone finds out that i research and invest in crypto they have a million questions. Some friends that only believe in cash, they don't keep money in banks, or have credit cards. Starting to look into crypto and the benefits that are coming out from blockchain technology. I believe that blockchain will reinvent the world and how we look at...

In Latin America there is a lot of vote buying in presidential elections, this is because they take advantage of the ignorance and need of the people, but we could...

Hi Malkazoid, we don't control the NEON wallet, but we'll see if we can find out if there's an issue with their calculation of the token value. It will be up to the NEON developer(s) to actually correct it if there is a bug, though.

It looks as though NEON wallet is using cryptocompare's API to derive the display of market price. The problem is that cryptocompare is only using LATOKEN's ETH/NRVE price. The last ETH/NRVE trade on LATOKEN was months ago, and yes, it was a $0.03 trade given today's ETH price, hence the display that you see. I do not know why they didn't use the more recent LATOKEN NEO/NRVE, but even at that, given that LATOKEN has closed trading in the US and in many other markets that isn't likely to...

I don't want to endorse any particular wallet as I've not seen one that is absolutely right always. I've tried 03 and it seems to have a market price display more in line with reality, but it also wasn't perfect. It has issues with the amount of unclaimed Gas that I have. I've stuck with Neon because I personally have almost no concern for my wallet showing a market price. I've got a CMC bookmarked and a Blockfolio app on my phone. All the same, I am aware that some people don't care about...

I have the same take: I'll stick with Neon because I don't use it to judge market value... If the APIs can't produce an accurate result, they'd be better off not trying to display those values, or displaying alongside it the date and source of the data. When it comes to finances, nobody wants to see the wrong figure
