Narrative format

Rich S ·
So, I was musing about the format of the narrative platform, and one of the things that attracted me to narrative initially was the unique and striking design of the adverts and webpage. I personally hope this type of design can carry on into the main platform. What do other people think?

I like how website looks. First impression is very important fot new users and I would have nothing against if we have similar design on main Narrative platform.

2 dumb questions: 1) So the tagline is "The Content Economy". Is that right? Are there other taglines? 2) Can you make the vector file for main logo available for playing with?

Re: Narrative Swag Design Contest is Here!

Michael Farris ·
Not dumb at all. Let me check into a vector. Just the logo or the logo + wordmark? Other tags? The web site has the main ones. We also have been playing with #GotNRVE and variations so I think we're open. I like "I've got NRVE"

Feedback on Chaucer Design/User Experience

MOLLY O ·
As we head into future releases of the Narrative platform, we want your opinion about your experience thus far using Chaucer from a design perspective. While Chaucer is only focused on niches, we want to understand your experience to date. Tell us about.... Your initial impression of Chaucer? What actions feel confusing? What do you feel is lacking and could be improved? What do you like about the current Chaucer platform? What wouldn't you change? Our own @Matt Brooks...

This is a huge question... and I have lots of thoughts... and there has been a lot of discussion around some of the pain points in voting, accessing ballot information, commenting, following, etc., in other posts... But, I think I'd like to hear @Matt Brooks reaction first. Since he's new to the team (relatively, right?), I'd love to hear about his reactions to Chaucer. And, some of the plans he has for improving/revising next rounds. Not a cop-out, just a first attempt to refine what needs...

Ok so, obviously I have no problem just shooting my uninformed mouth off. Here goes. For me from a look and feel perspective, it's ok. B- . A decent placeholder. I'd redo from start. Here are my mouth-shooting-off redo from start ideas in no particular order (obviously). This is all off the top of my head and it'll read like a Gordon Ramsey rant. Sorry about that: 1 Should feel different from the main user experience. Should feel more businesslike. Should convey a sense of power. The user is...

@MichelleG Very informative. Thanks! @Bryan I want to avoid potentially influencing anyone’s feedback. However, my general opinion out of the gate was that the team did a great job with the functionality, however the navigation and overall experience could use a tune up. Being new to the platform, I found a couple of key actions confusing at first. I also believe that the brand needs more consistency, as many of the CTAs and elements are visually competing for attention. I’ve already put...

Hello, I appreciate you adding the "already voted on niches.". It is very important for people to quickly and clearly see what ideas have been voted down or accepted. As it is now you have to click on the "already voted niche" to see if it was rejected or accepted. Id like to see them different colors or text to show which have been Rejected and which idea is a current niche.

Re: Feedback on Chaucer Design/User Experience

The inconsistent breadcrumb use should probably be taken care of. The niches screen should have some filtering and sorting, perhaps with an inline search always present in the filter bar. The up for auction / active / under review could probably be replaced with some nice looking distinctive icons and have a legend at the top of the page. When you look at a niche and see the various statuses like ballot (new niche), auction (started), auction (ended), etc. I think the time stamp for every...

I find the search bar very finicky, disappears as soon as you try to click the suggested word. I too would like the voted indicator to be much clearer... Tribunal page: the images of the tribunal is unnecessarily large. This should all be above the fold. I think there needs more colour. The page is visually not very stimulating and I think it will be hard enough to get people to come and vote frequently...perhaps new items could have some sort of coloured box and once voted it looses the...

Re: Feedback on Chaucer Design/User Experience

My experience comes not only from being a social media user (which most of us can wave our hand to lol), but also from working in the design industry for over 10 years. While I could really light into the design flaws of Chaucer, I think @Matt Brooks probably already has a good grasp on the basic concepts of rehauling the look and feel of the UI. In my opinion, Chaucer was a great prototype for the extremely basic functionality of the bottom layer of Narrative. As we work into beta, I think...
