Bidding system vulnerable to sniping

Malkazoid ·
Hello Narrative Team Ebay long ago implemented the ability for people to enter a maximum bid. This has the immense value of allowing people to not lose an auction due to someone bidding $1 higher in the last seconds of the auction. In such an event, if the currently winning bidder had entered a maximum bid higher than the bidding price, the only way to snipe the auction away from her would be to enter a last minute bid higher than her secret maximum. Is there a way for you to implement this...

Will the Moderator section go live before Q4

Emily Barnett ·
Since lining up moderators is an important aspect of having a functioning release of Narrative in the Q4, I am wondering how soon there will be the previously discussed area where people can express their intentions to moderate and for what topics they are knowledgeable in. As well as Niche owners to post what they are looking for? I recognize that many Niche owners may be looking for moderators outside the platform, but the perfect person may already be here...with out this part of the...

"When Exchange?" and "When public?" -- Alpha News

Michael Farris ·
We're coming up to 4 weeks complete for the Chaucer Alpha and well over 300,000 NRVE have gone into the Community Rewards Pool from sales of niches. That means a great supply of NRVE available for the community when Narrative launches. I'd say the "new content economy" is beginning to work. A quick update on the "when exchange?" the perennial posted question in Telegram: We're still working very hard on making agreements and will announce the news here and in Telegram as soon as we have it.

Niche validation voting, and reputation

Malkazoid ·
Hello @Narrative Network Team Voting for the niches is becoming quite time consuming especially if we want to leave informative comments for any downvotes, or a controversial upvote. And yet the community must do this in order for the platform to work. 1) This may already be the case, but in case it isn't, I propose that the voting activity from the outset of the Chaucer Alpha be taken into account in the initial reputation scoring when the platform launches. This way the people putting...

Top 20 Chaucer Niches (by NRVE value)

MOLLY O ·
This is Molly, the new COO at Narrative. I am about one week on the job and busy getting up to speed on everything. My head is like a ping-pong ball – lots of information to absorb. We are working quickly but thoughtfully on everything from hiring to policies to product. To me, the best news is that Narrative has already established a real community. I know this from reading the Community forum and the telegram site. One of my responsibilities is to oversee customer advocacy. Part of that...

Need Your Input! Labels in Chaucer

Rosemary ·
When the Chaucer alpha goes live, we'll be allowing the Founders (defined as anyone who contributed 60 or more NEO in the token sale) to have certain permissions. Founders will have a little "Founder" label next to their name in the interface. The next group of people who will have permissions in Chaucer will be anyone who participated in the token sale (regardless of the amount of NEO they contributed). I'm asking for input from your illustrious minds...what label would you like to see next...

Is it time to open up Chaucer to new people?

Emily Barnett ·
With people trying to sell their Nerve tokens, Chaucer having an abundance of approved niches sitting idle, and new suggestions having difficulty reaching the quorum of 21 votes, perhaps it is time to consider opening up the process to new interested community members. Personally I feel the six weeks for Patrons, and the 2 months for Founders is pleanty of time to appease the ICO status of the early investors/purchasers of the NRVE token. If you haven't picked up your niches yet, it is...

Handles Now Supported in Chaucer

Brian Lenz ·
As mentioned in last week's Narrative @ Work , Chaucer now supports Handles. The handle you set in Chaucer is the handle that you'll ultimately use on the Narrative platform, so get in early and reserve yours now! If you have an existing account in Chaucer, you can go to the UPDATE YOUR PROFILE link under your name in the navigation menu. From there, you will see that a default handle has been set based on your name, but you can customize it if you'd like. If you don't have an account on...

Limited time Chaucer access

Malkazoid ·
The @Narrative Network Team already have something in the works for opening up Chaucer to a wider user base, so this suggestion may not fit what they already have in mind, but please consider it on its merits. It might be advantageous to open up Chaucer to newcomers in small increments, by opening it up for a limited time and cutting off new sign ups once a target is reached. Benefits : 1) Chaucer becomes active again (really not optimal that niches are not being bid on - sends precisely...

Chaucer for the crypto newbie

Hi! So excited to see how fast the wait list is growing...thanks team for letting us have a visual marker. So my very simple post with a link has generated several completely crypto newbs to join. Founders and Patrons: How to Earn Referral Rewards

Melanie Mathos ·
We want to make sure everyone is aware of the updates to Chaucer that will enable Founders and Patrons to earn Referral Rewards for recruiting signups to the digital waiting list. To earn rewards, you must invite people using your personal referral link. This can be found in your Chaucer profile , where you can also send email invitations and share via social media. In addition, you'll be able to track how many people have signed up via your link, how much NRVE you have earned and how close...

Let the Chaucer voting comments shine!

Malkazoid ·
Hello all, This is a reminder to the @Narrative Network Team that comments on niche ballot boxes are still unnecessarily hidden from view in a tab. This is becoming an urgent consideration as we ramp up participation in Chaucer, and is already causing problems. There is a redundant niche underway (please take a moment to vote NO on it): https://alpha.narrative.org/ballot/8352348105331322 Two members of the community have taken the time to comment ( @Emily Barnett and me )...

Chaucer digest

Malkazoid ·
Similar idea here, to the suggestion of a Community forum digest. Participation in the Chaucer Alpha is up of course, with the influx of new users. But aspects of it are not - voting to confirm niches is a bit on the anemic side for instance, and we have no current mechanism to fix that. If a weekly message went out to all users with a digest of some of the notable activity on Chaucer (interesting new niches proposed, niches that need more votes, etc), with a reminder that voting builds...

As I am catching myself up to all that has been going on this week ( I was off grid) I think that in addition to a recruiting tool for Content Creators , there ought to be one for Moderators too! They are similar but different enough to need a different explanation/angle.

This is a huge question... and I have lots of thoughts... and there has been a lot of discussion around some of the pain points in voting, accessing ballot information, commenting, following, etc., in other posts... But, I think I'd like to hear @Matt Brooks reaction first. Since he's new to the team (relatively, right?), I'd love to hear about his reactions to Chaucer. And, some of the plans he has for improving/revising next rounds. Not a cop-out, just a first attempt to refine what needs...

@MichelleG Very informative. Thanks! @Bryan I want to avoid potentially influencing anyone’s feedback. However, my general opinion out of the gate was that the team did a great job with the functionality, however the navigation and overall experience could use a tune up. Being new to the platform, I found a couple of key actions confusing at first. I also believe that the brand needs more consistency, as many of the CTAs and elements are visually competing for attention. I’ve already put...

Hello, I appreciate you adding the "already voted on niches.". It is very important for people to quickly and clearly see what ideas have been voted down or accepted. As it is now you have to click on the "already voted niche" to see if it was rejected or accepted. Id like to see them different colors or text to show which have been Rejected and which idea is a current niche.

The inconsistent breadcrumb use should probably be taken care of. The niches screen should have some filtering and sorting, perhaps with an inline search always present in the filter bar. The up for auction / active / under review could probably be replaced with some nice looking distinctive icons and have a legend at the top of the page. When you look at a niche and see the various statuses like ballot (new niche), auction (started), auction (ended), etc. I think the time stamp for every...

I find the search bar very finicky, disappears as soon as you try to click the suggested word. I too would like the voted indicator to be much clearer... Tribunal page: the images of the tribunal is unnecessarily large. This should all be above the fold. I think there needs more colour. The page is visually not very stimulating and I think it will be hard enough to get people to come and vote frequently...perhaps new items could have some sort of coloured box and once voted it looses the...

My experience comes not only from being a social media user (which most of us can wave our hand to lol), but also from working in the design industry for over 10 years. While I could really light into the design flaws of Chaucer, I think @Matt Brooks probably already has a good grasp on the basic concepts of rehauling the look and feel of the UI. In my opinion, Chaucer was a great prototype for the extremely basic functionality of the bottom layer of Narrative. As we work into beta, I think...

Dr. Rick ·
I agree with a lot of what you are saying @Malkazoid , if I down vote a niche, I certainly want to give the creator a reason why which of course takes time. I also worry that when the volume of niche's increases I may simply miss a good niche and not give a vote to it. I think the idea of rewarding those taking the time to vote and thus putting the effort in is a good one. I also think having a scoring system also is good although I'm not sure of penalising those users that vote against the...

Thank you for posting this @Malkazoid I intended to post a similar post, but wanted to wait until my niche selection was done. I think the time invested for voting must be counted towards ones community reputation. If you spend time pitching in to build all the houses in a community, you should get recognition for doing so. Following the same analogy...if you show up to build those houses and you don't know what you are doing, or worse yet have malicious intent, which results in making other...

Another idea I had for speeding up the voting process when you wanted to leave a comment perhaps would be have a multiple choice of boiler plate reason why you up\down vote (duplicate, not inappropriate etc.) or more vote button rather than Yes/No, e.g. No Duplicate, No Inappropriate etc.
