Add page numbers to the top of the page as well

Crypto Sparky ·
Hey, when browsing the BALLOT BOX under Narrative Alpha the page numbers are at the very bottom of each page. It would be nice to also have these at the very top of each page so that you don't have to scroll all the way down in order to go to another page. Thanks.

Goodness....just looking through the list of Niche's that need votes and it is a bit overwealming....not to mention time consuming. Could the @Narrative Network Team make the ballot box sortable, so at the very least I can see the Niches I haven't voted for yet on top? I'm wondering if we should incentivize Niche voting from a community perspective....I know reputation will be affected if you are voting against the majority, but I don't think it takes a hit if you aren't voting...which makes...

@BANTER. Thanks for getting in there and trying to vote. Right now, I don't anticipate any changes to Chaucer on the ballot box. Our developers are heads down right now and focused on the beta. We do recognize that Niche ballot box voting can be a bit overwhelming. The good news is you can actually see if you voted so skip by those. Some of us on the Narrative Team who spend a lot more time in the Niches have been going in there and adding comments (e.g., there is already a niche with...

Ballot Box Timer

Coincado ·
Hi guys, why does the 48 hour timer on Niches in the Ballot Box get reset from time to time? I am asking because I have seen DropShipping , Social Media Marketing and Crypto Tutorials got their timer reset like 3 times already. I initially thought that one downvote would trigger a timer reset after it hit 48 hours but the Dropshipping Niche doesn't have a single downvote and has been in the Ballot Box for 7 days now. Why? I suggested a few niches before and the voting stopped after the 48 hours.

Like Conjunction for Coverage

Bryan ·
Okay, so that might be a really bad title... doesn't quite flow like water and chocolate—but I'm noticing a very disappointing trend in Niche submissions: the word "AND" . Currently, there are 3 Niches on the Ballot that use the word "and" or "&" in the title Virtual & Augmented Reality Manga & Comics Skiing and Snowboarding And many more that have already passed the ballot and are now under weigh in Auction or Actively owned. Firearms and Knives (no bids) Auto & Moto (owned)...

Hello Brian, it is an interesting point you made. In some cases, there could be really unfavorable consequences for all niche owners if there was e.g. auto&moto niche and then both auto and moto niches... I have few points which just came to my mind... 1) there could be niches where the two topics are closely related and there is just no better way than to use & - e.g. skiing if you just used winter sports, it would then include also cross-country skiing, ski jumping, etc. Although...

This is a very good post @Bryan, thanks for bringing it up. I think that more general terms should probably be used when possible, which is our advantage as early stakeholders to get the overarching niches, and leaving micro-topics for future niche owners. I mean isn't the finesse of how the page will look and concentrate on involve the moderator as well? But not much we can do, accept suggest it on a thread such as this. Firearms & Knives could have easily been Weapons or Self...

This is one of those where I entirely see the problem as stated but equally see no way to fix the problem in any rules-based way. The whole business of niche naming is evolving and I think a year from now we'll have the knack for naming a niche with goldilocks wisdom. Not too wide, not too narrow, just right. It will be the readers and writers who will hone that skill for us. We'll see what kind of niches get followed and what kinds of niches writers submit to. The "car" one is a perfect...

Agreed. I think many people are not thinking like a Content Creator. If I'm WAY in to skiing (which I am) I would prefer to post to a Skiing Niche and not the Skiing/Snowboarding combo. However, if the Skiing Niche exists, but someone with major industry pull wants to start a Niche called FreshP (for Fresh Powder—but it's all about skiing)—our current rules inject confusion over voting for the redundant topic despite the unique name. I think I'm less interested in Rules, and more interested...

i fully agree @David Dreezer I think that in a year from now the niches with the best content will matter, not monopoly niches, or squeaky wheels. I also think that right now there is nothing to focus on BUT niches and this community board, and since reputation is determined ,starting now, with our activity, I think there is a hyper vigilance that is taking place. As soon as we have a moderator forum for which we can state intentions, and start building these relationships, I suspect we will...

I agree with Micheal, in that I think that what we're seeing here with niche names and descriptions today will be very different in a year's time. I'm seeing a whole lot of "let me make it as broad as possible and then fight for every possible combination underneath it so that I have a total monopoly on this intellectual concept/idea" and "read my mind, not my words, this is what my niche meant!" First off, good luck managing niches like that....... But in a year from now, when there are...

Interesting points Bryan. Sometimes it seems to me that the rule of non-redundancy of the niches is more "on the paper" than in reality. If there are two similar niches and one becomes really popular, how can we avoid that this niche won't later broaden/or narrow/or shift its scope beyond its original description? I can easily imagine that if a niche succeeds in attracting good content creators and builds its own community, it could just transform naturally. I think that now we can define...

I didn't perceive your post as denigrating at all. An observation doesn't mean that you feel disparaging towards something. My agreement with you also doesn't come from a place of denigration...the community is really going over things with a fine tooth comb. This will probably turn into more of a light brush, as there is more to do, and more suggestions daily.

As an afterthought - if people are still struggling with the juxtaposition of various food restrictions, the following may help. We're all about community, and communities build themselves in ways that defy dry logic. Consider the LGBT community. You might think that transgender people wouldn't want to post to a niche that also covers the other aspects of sexuality that the letters LG and B cover. That thought might seem logical to you, but that would be ignoring the community that exists...

Misspellings be fixed during voting process?

Slaz ·
Hi there, I noticed recently that a niche called "Rubix Cube" was approved, then put to tribunal, got rejected, and put back into the ballot-box. Likely scenario is for it to be approved again since it's an unique niche. It's only problem is the misspelling in the name. And from what I've seen (and I may be wrong), detail changes for niches may only be suggested by the owner after approval. To prevent this, maybe it's an idea to let the tribunal, or even voting users, suggest changes...

Sometimes it becomes rather tedious and hard to go in and vote for niches - I notice you need to scroll through all of them (even ones you voted for) and the ones that are "new" or you still need to vote on are sometimes in the middle, and only visible because you have the arrows on them.. Don't suppose we could get a filter of some sort to make it easier to only see the ones that need voting? *Also separate gripe - "Pencils" seriously?

Re: Rock the Vote!

@chrisabdey - the good news is that you can actually see the Niches you voted for (it should show your vote and ask if you want to change). Maybe concentrate on the ones that are on the first page that are expiring.

Re: Rock the Vote!

@Crystal . There can certainly be "related niches". See this blog about Niche Relationships . The community will vote to see if this is a duplicate…but I can see how this one is a bit on the grey line. Ideally the first one proposed should get the thumbs up. You can vote the other one down (Insects and Amphibians) and indicate why. Suggest you include a comment that suggest that this focus on just Amphibians….or something to that effect. Others who are voting will then see your note. The...

The fact that there are "related niche's" allowed is the reason I would not purchase a niche right now. I don't see why someone would pay for niche's today the prices are outrageous. Niche's only have value if Narrative is a success and assuming it will be, tokens are a better investment. Paying thousands of tokens for a Niche is ridiculous. I would rather save up tokens and buy popular niche's. The only reason Narrative can get away with such high prices is because the typical above average...

A niche needs to reach at least 20 upvotes, or the voting timer re-sets. That gives more time to recruit voters. (Also wow, surprised those haven't mustered up more votes...I'll see if I can help rally.)

@MOLLY O - just had a thought about voting. It would be helpful to have a function we can opt in for, that emails us a digest of new niches to vote on periodically. The default could be set to once every 3 days, but with options to make it much less frequent if that's more appropriate for some folks. It could also default to sending us 12 new niches to vote on each time, but with settings for more, or less. If opting in to this function is presented as part of the sign up process, and it is...

@Malkazoid . Good ideas. I always like Opting in "options". We don't want to bombard people with lots of emails - especially if they have no interest in voting. When the platform opens up more broadly, I don't think we will have issues with getting people to vote…especially when they realize they can be earning more rewards. That said, making it easier for those who want to spend the time to vote is a good thing.

The suggested Niché Relationship vs. Dating

Emily Barnett ·
Hi Narrative Peeps! Just wanted to put a support post up for @Zach Relationship niche. Currently it is at only 50%. I don't see this as redundant to dating. The two are very different. A marriage or common-law relationship is vastly different, with it's own set of topics and sub-genres, than a dating relationship, and therefore I am asking people to reconsider their negative vote. In the end don't we want people to get the niche's that they feel they can contribute to the best, as long as it...
