Watch this nOS video of the NEO conference in Amsterdam on 15 april. It is the essence of why we need blockchain and decentralisation.

Exchanges - Decentralised vs Centralised

RobbyCannard ·
I had my first experience using a decentralised exchange this week and was pleasantly surprised! I used Switcheo and purchased using my Neon Wallet. It was a simple task of creating a burn wallet and purchasing the Switcheo without my Neo leaving my Neon Wallet. Yes, the interface isn't yet on the level of Binance, but it is very early days. As a new DEX, Switcheo was brilliant to use and it opened my eyes up to why there is a ridiculous amount of hype around the upcoming Nex exchange which...

Favourite NEO Projects (apart from Narrative :) )

RobbyCannard ·
I am a huge Neo fan and most of my portfolio consists of Neo based projects. Obviously by the fact I am here, I am a huge fan of Narrative and really believe in this project. My opinion is that in general Neo is far superior and thorough compared to its competitors when taking on new projects. Barring Narrative, I am currently most psyched about Concierge (Holiday Booking), Thor (gig economy), NEX (soon to be coming as the Daddy of decentralised exchanges) and Switcheo (Fantastic new...

Decentralised social network building - how can we beat the odds

Malkazoid ·
I recently read this interesting article, which lists some of the serious difficulties aspiring decentralised social networks face. Most of them are relevant to the success we all wish to bring about for Narrative. https://www.wired.com/story/decentralized-social-networks-sound-great-too-bad-theyll-never-work/ I'd like to have an exchange with the community on how we can overcome some of these obstacles. I'm going to propose one provocative solution to grow Narrative successfully. Might it...

Niche owner influence/custom niche organisation

Malkazoid ·
Hello all, In this thread: https://community.narrative.or...39#13559569009919839 It became apparent, through some communication from @Ted, that the @Narrative Network Team's goal is to remove owners from any influence on the content of their niches. They will certainly correct me if I mischaracterise this in any way, but from what I have gathered, niche owners will only be promoters of their niches. They will have no editorial control whatsoever, and will have zero...

idea to improve interchangeability of Niches to new owners

kooke ·
Hi everyone, I've been an early supporter of this great platform since its inception, however I've since now never been convinced to do a post of my own until now. I've read the process on how after the beta launch a niche will be able to put up for auction and switch owners. However, this would still require the entire process to be handled with the use of middlemen initiating transfer etc. Isn't decentralisation what we want? decentralisation and ownership of assets. I look at niches we...

You may want to talk to the people over at Social X. I am one of the limited beta testers over there. I like the product alot..very much like Instgram. their rewards are going to be different than Narrative. it isn't fully flushed out yet but I think they could be a compatible platform to work with. Having photos seamlessly merge into the Narrative journaling ecosphere seems interesting. I know you want something established, but it was a thought...

My first thought was they're probably keen to launch their own product since they are already well on their way... But if their product is quite different and they are focused on photo sharing Instagram style, then I guess we should ask the @Narrative Network Team whether merging would be beneficial, or whether they already plan to develop the best aspects of Instagram functionality in Narrative?

Re: Niche owner influence/custom niche organisation

Mark Horler ·
So, having read this thread, and the original one linked to... Denying niche owners any say in content, is not only slightly bonkers, but more importantly, it's impossible and pointless. Several posts across the threads have already made it abundantly clear that, if they are denied any control via the narrative platform itself, it is perfectly possible for them to work around that. You could conceivably end up with owners inviting moderators to join facebook groups (set to secret), in order...

Re: Niche owner influence/custom niche organisation

Malkazoid ·
I suspect your reaction will be common. Niches have been solidly pitched to entrepreneurs. The phrase Content Entrepreneur was even coined in the process. Realising that one's sole real activity is to promote won't match up with: a) how niches have been described b) what entrepreneurs expect from a business endeavor c) what is best for the niche (if only engaged to promote, an owner's overall satisfaction levels with the time spent on a niche will be much lower than if they are engaged as an...

Erik Blair ·
I am not feeling assured or comfortable with the hurdles involved with the lack of ROI suggested here as far as Niche ownership. If what I am understanding is correct, then anyone can come onboard Narrative as a content creator, have a larger profit for their efforts, and can have more authority to take action and control the direction of the niche they create content for. And they don't have to pay/invest anything to get in, while Niche owners have to go through the hassle of jumping...

Yes only developers can change the world with new transparent social media dApps. nOS will provide universal smart contracts which devs can use as boilerplate to create there apps fast and secure. Every dApps can be reviewed and scrutinised by the open source community. Adoption will follow as the public will see that these transparent apps actually work, completely advertisement free.

Yes definitely, as decentralised exchanges evolve, they will bring the user-friendliness of centralised exchanges but with the added security of being a DEX. The future is bright

This is an interesting discussion from a personal point of view. Wallets and Exchanges today remind me of the very first internet tools which were clunky and usable only by true techies. When the first graphical browser came out exactly 25 years ago it opened the market a thousandfold. I see that happening now with wallets and exchanges designed for the masses. Crypto for non-crypto people ...

I agree,I find it fascinating on a personal level too, however I think wallet keys are still too technical and need to be packaged up into a nicer entity so you aren't dealing with private or encrypted keys. Then I think we will truly see the doorway open to non-crypto people !

Re: Exchanges - Decentralised vs Centralised

@Dr. Rick There are many initiatives and progress taking place as we speak to make Decentralized Exchanges more appealing and accessible to the masses. Switcheo will shortly be releasing a new UI which will be more friendly to interact with, along with Ledger support being added in the short to medium term. NEX is certainly rumoured to have FIAT to Crypto functionality which is a huge step in the right direction, however Switcheo might steal a march if they can progress at their current...

Yes @Dr. Rick , I don't mean to sound like I am promoting Switcheo but I truly believe they are on the right track and have stolen a march on NEX. It is easy to say Switcheo looks substandard compared to Binance, but you must remember Binance has been around a LOT longer, give it a chance. I believe NEX will be a lot more polished and provide an experience very similar to Binance, however I can also see Switcheo being extremely quick to evolve. I am truly excited to see these DEX's progress,...

I have recently invested in Thor, Concierge and Switcheo. I am particularly excited in Thor and Concierge. I can also see big things happening for Switcheo, especially if they can improve their ui. However I do fear for them when NEX is released. Unfortunately I was unsuccessful in the NEX lottery so I will be looking to invest in that too when it hits exchanges.
