Valuable content

Malkazoid ·
Fellow Narrators, Without getting too philosophical, I want to have an exchange with you about what constitutes ' VALUE '. In this Content Economy we are building, content will be valuable in a financial sense, to all involved, and the exchange of content will be transactional. So I think its a good idea for us to ask ourselves what valuable content actually is? The more we understand what constitutes value, the more Narrative will naturally come to be associated with quality content,...

That's a great point. Through put is a great item on anybody's success list. Regardless of results, to commit to a certain level of productivity ensures at the very least that practice will help make perfect.

@Malkazoid I love this post and what you wrote. This stuff is hard to communicate and I think it is very important to a lot of us. I think the real challenge since the beginning of social media has been "what is valuable content" Prior to social media content makers were few and far between because we existed within the gate keeper modus operandi...we had art dealers, record producers, publishers and studio heads, that made the decision based on what was considered valuable content. There...

@Malkazoid ask yourself- when the masses come, will they be Beer drinkers or Wine sippers?

Both, in the usual proportions? Except Narrative might attract a bit more of one rather than the other...

Change publication date

Slaz ·
Would it be feasible to have a feature to change the publication date to either a future, or a past date? For a future date, a drafted post could be auto-published when the specified date is reached. And a past date could be handy when (manually) bringing over a post that was originally published on another platform, perhaps with an “original publishing date” and an “actual date” on Narrative. Any thoughts?

+1 on this. It would also allow the network to keep stats - whether internally or publicly - on how much content is being generated fresh for Narrative, and how much of it is recycled. I also think we should consider allowing people who are republishing their own work on Narrative, to provide links to where it was previously published, and check a box as to whether or not they are removing it from the other locations. This would help the Tribunal figure out cases of alleged content theft. If...

It would not be necessary to display the data on previous publications. It is just useful information gathering for the platform.

Re: Change publication date

I definitely support a publishing date feature. I am undecided about the idea of having the previously published date, as proof of authorship. I have concerns that some people will vote negatively, or more likely decide to not vote at all, on content that was not originally posted on Narrative. In otherwords, a standard emerges that "Narrative only" content gets more highly rewarded. I think if you posted your content elsewhere, and it gets brought up to the tribunal as plagiarism, it is...

I plan on re-using content I've posted elsewhere, but it will be fairly easy for me to prove that I was and am the original author. For old Facebook posts, I'm not going to bother providing a link to the original post - because I don't necessarily want everyone heading to my FB profile and trying to friend me or whatever - but if I'm re-working something from my blog, I'll probably be linking back to the original post. My about page of my blog contains my real name, just like on here, so...
