Trying to access that niche's approval page after a comment has been deleted, or even trying to access the page of listed approvals on which that approval sits... brings the robot of doom. This problem tends to resolve itself after a while: I don't know if it is because the @Narrative Network Team are fixing the issue as it arises, or whether some aspect of the system periodically corrects the condition that causes the error... Either way, I thought I would make sure that the Team is...
This is a community forum for the niche Content Entrepreneur. It is here that you can make any kind of suggestions to me as the owner of the niche, whether that is grammatical, spelling, clarification, or content suggestions. I will take into consideration all reasonable suggestions from the community members that follows this niche. This post will appear periodically as a link in my content posted on the niche, and perhaps that of the elected moderators too. Our hopes are to foster broader...
Hi all, In posts with a lot of comments, like this one: https://www.narrative.org/post/a-problem-i-have-with-narrative-s-niche-owners?comment=46495305201747859#46495305201747859 When I vote, the page then scrolls down to another point in the comments. I have not detected any rhyme or reason to where it puts me, and I'm not trying to hard to because either way, the correct behavior should be to leave me exactly where I was when I voted. I'm using Chrome.
A question for the community. @MOLLY O suggested we downvote their content and comments as low quality if they are trolling posts. I'm wondering if AUP violation is a possibility too? After all, the troll is violating the AUP (or should be seen as such) by using a dummy account to cause disruptions and malign the network. Thoughts?
I am having a difficult time understanding what moves your reputation score. My score has not moved since the day the readjustments were done, though I have posted, commented, voted, and followed many times since then. I don't mean to pick on anyone, but I would like to use this profile as an example of my confusion. @icomecrypto has a current score of 50. He has not certified so his score is made up of 100 on conduct analysis and 66 on quality analysis. What baffles me is this person has...
So after some discussion yesterday about Reputations feeling like on Pause and not going up, ironically I noticed mine went down few points today. Now the goal of reputation is to push for better content and engagement. How do I tell what caused the dip overall? Was it Too many posts Not enough engagement/votes for posts Downvotes on posts Downvoted comments? Too many comments with no upvotes? I'm worried about last point. If a comment with no response is considered bad, I often reply on...
It happens that correct links, put in comments, become broken (saw that happening in posts too). What seems to happen is that "..." is inserted in the middle of link, but - occasionally - the original link is not kept. Instead, the shown link, with "..." is used, which is of course broken.
I recently added a comment with some links on this post . The author said on one of my post that the links are broken. So I checked again and discovered that it got shortened by having some dots in between. Now I tried to replace it again in that comment so it works well but the last link of community site I left it as it is. So we can fix it. As it's still broken.
There's a post that I commented on that I wanted to go back to and for the life of me I can't find it. I looked in my activity feed thinking it would show there but it doesn't. I'd have thought that votes and, or at least, comments would show up in my activity feed. If I'm missing something, please point me in the right direction. If I'm not and they don't show, please consider this a suggestion.
Is it possible for you to copy or move a comment I made on another thread to make it a suggestion? https://community.narrative.org/support/topic/17786016704209756?reply=17786016704296747#17786016704296747 If you can't, I'll have to do it the hard way and make sure the image attachment shows up in the right place. Just let me know. :)
Addendum - it is Saturday evening so I doubt anyone will attend to this until Monday, but just thought I'd point out the niche approval that is currently suffering from this problem: it is The Beatles. And because that approval currently lists on page 3 of niche approvals, that page is completely inaccessible right now, at least for me. So a pretty disruptive problem since anyone trying to access the approvals on that entire page of approvals, will be whacked with the robot of doom.
Another observation. The robot of doom kindly proposes that we submit a support ticket, and I can tell from the URL it points us to that it will allow you to track error data internally and correlate it with the comments of what the user was doing when the error occurred. Right now, clicking that link leads to a "Uh oh, there's nothing there." page. The link I used when I experienced this was: https://alpha.narrative.org/ge...4574-khgxj%3C%2Fp%3E
Hi @Malkazoid , Thanks for the report! We are indeed aware of this issue (and other similar errors related to the same root cause). It's a problem we've been actively pursuing that is proving to be rather tricky to solve. We'll definitely use your report to help further trying diagnose the issue, so thank you for reporting and providing all of the details Have a good weekend, Brian
We cannot tell you why your score changed, since we are not monitoring your account. I can tell you that you will not be penalized for the number of posts you make, so you should never have to worry about doing too much. My guess is that your quality score went down a little bit, perhaps because of some downvote action, but unless it was a major drop, I personally wouldn't worry about it too much. We will be continuing to monitor our reputation code over time, of course, to ensure that...
@Malkazoid , I was wondering the same. I sometimes report with low quality, sometimes as a violation even if they're not exactly a violation, but SHOULD clearly be, since cheating by multiaccounts is commonly considered negative conduct (not always easy to detect them with certainty, but AUP does not even mention explicitly).
I think it's a bad idea to blanket report anything you deem as a troll to the Tribunal as an AUP violation. As an absolute minimum it simply adds that much more load to what will be the Tribunal. Mark it as low quality, and then just do not engage. Don't feel the troll's ego and rep by adding comments and replies. Stop rewarding the Trolls, just downvote for low quality, let it submerge, and move on.
Let's remember that those are not just trolls. It's an individual, acting with a scheme, that is polluting conversations and approvals/bids of niches. Also, new users don't know about this and WILL give him attention.
@Vico Biscotti makes a good point, people are unwittingly engaging -they don't know that some of the comments, posts, bids, etc are coming from troll accounts. New users are at a disadvantage unless the word gets to them. And after reading the AUP, even if the comments don't violate it, one person using multiple accounts to appear as several is impersonation - one reason to ban, at least.
Hi, I'm sorry, but we are not commenting on or releasing the formulas for reputation at this time. We're in beta, the reputation system has had refinements and could possibly see more. And really it won't help if people are reading the formulas and then taking actions which would then skew the results. It is entirely possible that your reputation hasn't moved. Reputation is meant to be a slow progression and shouldn't jump up and down frequently. Just keep doing what you're doing, and your...
While I am wondering why mine hasn't moved, and that's fine I guess, but that's still no indication of how someone who has done nothing gets a quality score of 66. But thanks for replying. I can understand not releasing the formula, but at a very basic level you'd like to think it makes sense, however it is administered. Thanks for the reply.
I am going to close this Question. @blueeyes8960 Thanks for being here and contributing on the Narrative platform. Not sure you have seen our spec - thought that you might find interesting if you hadn't seen it yet.
I'm not seeing an issue with broken links. Yes, the appearance of the link is shortened for very long links, but if you click them, they work fine. If you want to copy a link - instead of highlighting and copying the text, and right click and choose copy link address, or whatever your browser terms it as. On mobile (chrome is all I have) it's link press on the link and press copy link address. Someone else will have to tell us how it's on on an iPhone.
@David Dreezer , it occasionally happens. I've not found what triggers it. Of course, I put the full link, in the comment, not the text, but sometimes the text still becomes a link (with the "...") but it's a broken link. I've a clear example, but I can't put a link to a comment (oh, that's a suggestion...), so I can give you only the link of the story https://www.narrative.org/post...-don-ts-on-narrative and a screenshot of the comment If I go in edit, the link is intact.
@David Dreezer , yes, copied and pasted from the address bar. So, clean text, no HTML in it. Funny thing is that in edit mode, I get the correct url again: As soon as I submit, the link goes broken again.
Your links in the original copy/paste that you're posting to all new users do work. The appearance of the links are shorted to prevent page stretch. If people click the links they work fine. If they copy/past them they will not. When you then edit your comment with the shortened links, copying and pasting the shortened link back into your edited post, will cause them to break. When you edit a comment with links you'll need to make sure that you're not pasting a shortened link back into your ...
Hello @David Dreezer Actually I have it in my notes and I copy from it everytime. I don't know when I had copied from the comment and edited my notes with it as I can still see the full links in my notes. But I'll pull the fresh links in my notes now. Hope it works!
Votes and Comments do not show up on your Activity Feed at this time. So yes, I hope a (near) future release can have this added. I comment on other narrators posts a lot more than I post by myself, so it’s getting quite hard to keep track.
It would definitely make it easier to keep track of activity.... Categories for activity would be good as well (Ex. Votes, Comments and Replies, Posts, Follows, etc) so we can sort/filter what can quickly become a long list of things.
Great, can you link the actual suggestion thread here please. It would be helpful should anyone stumble across this. My quick search only showed a suggestion from February about sorting/searching activity.
Here is the comments suggestion link: https://community.narrative.or...ng-comments-on-posts I can't put my hands on the Votes in the Activities Tab but I know I have seen it several places. It could be it just came in as questions many times and suggested on the platform itself. If you feel strongly about it - feel free to post this one part as a suggestion. Use a good header so its easily discovered. Thanks!
