IMPORTANT - Get on the "Voted for Narrative on Kucoin" List

Malkazoid ·
Hi all, You've probably seen the Kucoin voting thread, or read about it on Telegram. Narrative on Kucoin would be a defining moment in the project, and a seriously big step towards a successful launch. As a large scale, high-volume and well-trusted exchange, it can help Narrative pick up momentum leading into the last months before platform launch. This means that voting on Kucoin is the single most important thing you can do for Narrative today. The deadline is July 15th 18.00 UTC+8. That's...

Narrative Needs Your Vote in the KuCoin Listing Competition

Melanie Mathos ·
KuCoin is hosting a competition on Telegram, and Narrative is in the running! Your vote will really make a difference, so please take a moment to share the love for Narrative. (And watch us rise up the ranks!) The winning project will receive a free listing on KuCoin, and the users that voted for the winning project will receive some of the project's tokens. The competition will run through July 15th 18.00 UTC+8, and you can only vote once per project. Here's how you can help Narrative rise...

Waiting list round 21, 100,000 signups unlock threshold?

Malkazoid ·
Hello Just noticed that after rolling over into round 21, the unlock threshold has changed from 500, to a whopping 100,000? Was this something that was programmed a long time ago, and not looked at again? Or do we really want to stop admitting new people to the alpha now? That's the effect of this super high threshold: there will be no new alpha users until Beta Launch unless the threshold is lowered. The timing is unfortunate: we're just getting into gear to encourage G+ users to jump into...

A long list of Features that we would love to see in the future.

Emily Barnett ·
Now that we can type our content into the platform, we can get a bit more of a peek into the elegant look of the site, but also start to see the User experience design. This thread is not a complaint thread, but rather a constructive place to put your ideas in one area, of features you would like to see once the team rolls out the beta, and the designers have time for fine tuning I will start. I would love to see a built in photo editor, at the very least the ability to do final cropping...

Allow user to define what portion of their image displays in the preview

...or fit the image horizontally, so that wide aspect images display in their entirety. Doing either of these two things might be one of the lowest hanging fruits for improving the look of all Narrative content listings. Right now, most of the images in the content listings are unappealing because the brain can't easily grasp what is being looked at. Images are a double-edged sword because we are such visual creatures, they draw the eye first. If the result of that first engagement is ...

Oh, now I'm trying to remember the THING that was missing when I was working on some drafts last week... and I can't remember it. This is may or may not be it, but one thing that's really needed is when choosing three niches for our content, we need search to look at niche names and descriptions. I've had to open two separate tabs when drafting content so that I can use the search bar to look for appropriate niches because some niches do not have intuitive names and the relevant information...

This is awesome, and helpful (especially since some of the suggestions get buried inside long, intense discussions and are hard to surface). Another way to make formal feature suggestions is to use the actual "suggestion" feature in this community. If you do that, then it can actually be "voted up" by other community members and it may help surface ones that are popular. To make a formal "suggestion," click the big green POST button. Then choose "support topic." On that page, for topic type,...

How about a niche suggestion tool? Just look at the content I wrote in the box and tell me which niches fit. Also, why only three niches? One of my frustrations with Steemit is I can only have five tags for a post. Why? If my content matches fifteen different content categories, why can't I tag it for all fifteen categories? I tend to write long posts so five tags doesn't cut it. On Narrative, a post may only fit into one niche. Fine. But what if it fits into six or seven? What harm would it...

@Garden Gnome Publications I think that the three niche limit might have something to do with rewards, not necessarily for the content creator, but for the moderators and niche owners. At least, that's the most likely explanation my brain could conjure. Publishing content in too many niches would dilute the rewards for each niche the same content appears in. If it was just about tagging, I would agree that there would be no good reason to limit how tags to just three. But because of the...

That makes sense. I wonder if the end user who is not a niche owner or moderator will understand that. That's the kind of thing that needs to be communicated at the user level. Knowing that, as a user, I can choose the owners and moderators I want to reward.

Yeah, the thought literally had never occurred to me until you asked the question, and then I realized what a responsibility it is as a content creator - and as an owner and moderator - to build relationships to foster mutual success. Those of us here in the alpha who actively post here in the community forums (or at least commenting on suggested niches) have a bit of a head start on the whole thing. If I was torn between several niches for my third niche for any given piece of content, I...

I think it could be argued that as a user experience, having too many tags means the same content can just end up getting plastered everywhere, and the platform could look quite repetitive. Especially in the early days.

Yeah, then you run the risk of creating user silos where early adopters support other early adopters and leave the rest behind. We certainly wouldn't want to create an aristocratic echo chamber. I don't think it would serve the platform well. @Emily Barnett , that's a good point. I think it could end up looking like a content farm, especially early on, if we're not careful.

Re: A long list of Features that we would love to see in the future.

Christina Gleason ·
@Garden Gnome Publications It's human nature. But I don't think the risk of an echo chamber is really that high. We all have a fixed limit on the number of niches we can own, and most of the time, we're probably not going to have the luxury of "knowing" the relevant niche owners, even one out of three.

With regard to photos, I'd like to be able to right and justify them. Also, the ability to include tables would be nice. And a place to include a footer so that all personal journal entries can have the same footer material without having to copy/paste it every time. In fact, being able to store multiple footers (one for each different type of post, for instance) would be nice.

I'm not sure if this has been addressed already, but if it the system doesn't, I'd love to see a Narrative Original Content checking tool. I'm sure a lot of people might re-upload content from their own blogs, and while I don't have an issue with it (as long as it's still relevant) I'd also been concerned if people are uploading content from other people's blogs or online articles and claiming that content as their own to earn NRVE. I imagine some moderators will do plagiarism checks, but...

This is a great suggestion. Some niche owners may not want duplicate content even if the content creator owns that content. This would give them the ability to check it quickly and reject content that doesn't meet Niche guidelines.

How should a normal niche owner be able to check if the content creator created the content himself or used someone else's? It's simply impossible to do within an acceptable amount of time. In my opinion every content creator must be held responsible for every upload, there is no other realistic option.

Re: A long list of Features that we would love to see in the future.

Agreed. If someone sends a DMCA notice for stolen content, Narrative will act on it in whatever manner they've determined, which likely won't involve the niche owners or moderators. It is not within the scope of owners or moderators to run plagiarism checks.

Having used Copyscape in my work, it's untenable to expect owners and/or moderators to run every piece of content through Copyscape - which won't help with visual content that requires a different online tool. Some people already own 5 niches - and may soon own 10 - and have applied to be moderators on even more different niches. Not to mention that many of us intend to be content creators as well, and have actual day jobs too. Copyscape also isn't perfect, especially if you're writing an...

I agree with the sentiments above about needing a copyright check for content / images. It should definitely be high in the priority list since it seems like a ripe opportunity for abuse since people can easily earn rewards off of other peoples content. Along with that, if someone is found to have plagiarized, their reputation should take a serious hit to discourage it from happening again.

I agree there need to be safeguards for blatant plagiarism but pictures have a lot of contingencies such as art curation. I've seen the power of much more popular pages crediting and re-posting another persons art that resulted in real world sales and commissions for that artist. I for instance, own a high end fashion niche. Unless I'm flying to Fashion Week or get invited to every personal showing there's no way to take only original pictures. In fact, I've had designers thrilled I posted...

Some of us will need to stock pile posts, especially niche owners, therefore it would be great on the draft page if we could have a few category separators in order to have some file management systems. For instance I may start drafts when a thought strikes me, like a title and a sentence or two, but need to finish it at a later date...it would be nice to stick that into my Equality niche folder in drafts along with the others, to keep them more organized. Like wise my Vintage Style, and the...
