Guys do you have some method to prove the referrals are legit?

Jhoe ·
I mean, anybody can create many emails and get referral points, isn't ?

I suppose that someone could do that. We're not doing KYC on them, so no we don't have a way to prove that each email is a real unique individual person. Just positivity and a good outlook.

They can see IP address where the application is made from. If someone invites multiple account with "temp email" and all have same IP those must be fake.

Content drafting sneak preview email

Malkazoid ·
Hey! Just popping in to congratulate everyone involved in that email that went out. Great content. Good idea to get folks recruiting moderators outside the community - great way for people to first hear about Narrative. And OF COURSE - super stoked to see the content drafting sneak peek! All the best with your continuing efforts, and have a great week at HQ!

Like Dave said, we do not auto-opt in anyone to unsolicited emails. People have the option of opting into the newsletter when they sign up for the waitlist. For now, the logins will remain separate for Community and Alpha, however, it is on our radar for review!

I'm in touch with a G+ member who joined Narrative (Denis). He mentioned on the Narrative G+ community ( https://plus.google.com/commun...18312125325383497859 ) that he never received the content drafting sneak preview news email. The only thing that I can think of is that he is not a member of the community forums here: I think he was put off by having to make yet another account on top of his Narrative alpha one. Shouldn't he still be receiving the news emails? Or is that switched off by...

Re: Recommendation: Disable ability to change email address in our profiles.

David Dreezer ·
Hi, Unfortunately, doing so would lock out the many many users that have legitimate reasons for changing their email address. But yes, I am going to tell you to make sure that you choose a strong password. Sure, a very strong password can be broken, but if someone were to try to run a dictionary or brute force attack against our site and you have a very strong password then it would take them years to break. If we prevent email address changes we will effectively lock out any person that...

Recommendation: Disable ability to change email address in our profiles.

Verona Williams ·
Maybe I'm being freaky because my Bitcointalk account got hacked a while back and they changed the email address associated with my account, effectively "stealing" it. But it occurred to me that Narrative accounts could be similarly hacked and stolen this way. And don't tell me to choose a strong password because even the strongest password can be cracked.

Re: Recommendation: Disable ability to change email address in our profiles.

Isn't the generally accepted solution to have a security challenge when trying to change the account's email? Something that sends an email, or SMS with a code or link that needs to be entered or clicked before one can proceed? That seems to be pretty effective. I also think I remember Narrative mentioning that Two Factor Authentication was something Narrative was going to implement in the future. That would be enough for me...

OK, that makes sense. Like I said, that was probably just me being freaky. But maybe one thing that you could do is that if somebody wants to change their email address, first they have to confirm that that's what they want to do by getting into their original email and clicking on a link that was emailed to them. Or if they didn't request that change, they can send a "bogus login" report so that the staff can help them lock it down somehow. (Would blocking logins from a specific IP address...

2FA might work, but also, there should be a way to restore an account to its original owner if it can be established that it got hacked and the email was changed. (I don't recommend using SMS for 2FA because I've heard of "SIM Swap" cases where somebody could access their victim's accounts just by pretending to be a cell phone service provider's customers and arranging to swap out the SIM card on their phone.)

Yes, 2fa was in earlier forms of the Alpha and it will definitely be back.

Can you repost this please, as a suggestion in our ticket system so that it doesn't get lost/buried? Just click Post, then Support ticket. And choose Suggestion as the topic type. There's no guarantee we will implement it, or if we do, in the exact form as posted, but it makes a lot easier for us to track good suggestions and ideas when they are entered into the system this way. It really helps. Thanks!

Sample Email for Promoting Narrative

I've had a few requests for an "official" email template that you can use to promote Narrative, so here it is! Feel free to tweak it as needed for various audiences, or use parts of it.

Very good works you have done for promoting narrative. Yesterday I did the same i created a post in steemit https://steemit.com/narrative/ @malay11/officials-beta-launched-of-narrative-social-network-will-scheduled-on-2nd-april-2019 I am also shared it to different social platform and spreading narrative..

OK this is a great start. But what we really need is a BRANDED email template, (aka with formatting and official Narrative graphics), and a branded Facebook template and Twitter template. At the very least. Optimally, these could be sent out THROUGH THE BETA site directly. Doing it through the site is actually less work than setting up templates adhering to a variety of different email platforms and ensures all information/branding will be up-to-date and correct. I feel allcaps and boldfaced...

@MichelleG . We will not be able to get an automated email invite into the initial Beta. We have a few fun things post Beta that may be implemented to help recruiting too. There are some social messages here -but we will be updating these in the next couple of days with new hashtags, less focus on Alpha, etc. So keep checking it out. Here is a link to a Google Doc Template that might be easier for email use with the Narrative Logo. We will keep adding resources and updates to this link .

Nice - nothing beats a face to face representation like this. I'll start mentioning Narrative in our doc screening Q and A's, and in interviews, once we've reached the point where we've started posting materials relating to our current film on Narrative. I'm hoping this will coincide with having overcome the early problems we know of, and the ones we don't.

I plan to go to a Women in Blockchain meet-up this week, where you can stand up and make announcements or presentations. I don't think it it will be very big, but I thought this was a a way to do my part, where people can actually hear my enthusiasm in voice for the project.

Change the wording of the email narrators receive when an active niche is rejected

Christina Gleason ·
This will not be a common issue, I think, but we may ferret out niches other than BLOG that need to be edited or rejected. A narrator (@tommyapplecore) thought his post had been deleted when he got the email about his post(s) in the BLOG niche. (In the comments here .) The email should make it clear that the niche itself is gone, and that posts were not deleted, but will no longer appear in that niche - so the narrator can choose another niche to tag in its place. It should also be made...

You're right @Christina Gleason This one needs to be fixed. We should let authors know why their content have been removed from such Niche with a reason. Along with that, we can add a note to let them know about to choose another appreciate Niches for the same articles.

Question

social sharing

Katherine Sophia ·
Not sure if this is a suggestion or question but can we add the ability to email and share to pinterest and or instagram ? Or is this already a thing and I'm missing something. Specifically, I am speaking of adding those link share icons and maybe even some follow icons as well that might be able to be changed to make it easy to follow the Niche owners or Niches, Author of individual posts. I am not very technology knowledgeable, I know I am not the only one either, so the more straight...

@Katherine Sophia . We prioritized the share feature with social platforms that focus on content - and they support full attribution of the content. You can email very easily (although not through the share function right now) by just copying the URL for the content post. We may add more share options later. Feel free to offer up as suggestions.
