Credit Card Processing Temporarily Suspended

Melanie Mathos ·
We are currently experiencing issues with our credit card payment processing and have suspended it temporarily. We are actively working on this and expect to resume credit card processing within the next two weeks. In the meantime, we will be extending the payment deadline for Niche Auctions from three days to two weeks to accommodate for these changes. Niche payments can still be made using NRVE. As always, we’re here to support you through the NRVE purchasing process. We’ve published a...

Credit Card Processing Back Online + Niche Payment Deadline to Remain Two Weeks

Melanie Mathos ·
Credit card processing is back online with even more options! And, based on the feedback we've received, we're going to maintain the two week deadline for Niche Auction payments. When you win a Niche Auction, you’ll have two payment options - “Pay With NRVE” (our cryptocurrency token) or “Pay With PayPal.” By using PayPal as our processor, we've extended the payment options by allowing users to pay with a credit or debit card, via their PayPal account, or via Venmo (US only) on mobile.

This is amazing awesome! Paypal is particularly welcome... I'm not sure the math is working though.. I've got 2 Niche invoices outstanding: One is 5,857.44 NRVE which gives me the option to: Pay with PayPal $86.25 USD Includes 15% convenience fee of $11.25 The other is 7,864.06 NRVE which gives me the option to: Pay with PayPal $87.31 USD Includes 15% convenience fee of $11.39 The NRVE token on CoinMarketCap is currently priced at: $0.009635 USD So 5,857.44 NRVE multiplied by $0.009635 USD...

@AussieNinja The way I understand it, the USD value is calculated based on the exchange rate at the time you placed your bid, which means that the initial bid is equivalent to $75. If you were the only bidder with no competition, The USD value if paying by credit card/PayPal should be $75 + 15% = $75 + $11.25 = $86.25. It is possible to pay more or less than this amount if you pay with NRVE. If you buy NRVE low and bid when NRVE is high, you could probably even profit. I'm not smart enough...

Thanks David... you're right (of course), I just found this in the whitepaper: "For Niches, initial and renewal fees are subject to a minimum of US$75/year, however. For Brands, the annual fees will be fixed (price TBD)." I didn't realise the $75 minimum or the annual renewal fee... but I quite like the idea, it's a lot more fair to later adopters.

The minimum purchase price for any niche is $75. And as quoted above, $75 + 15% = $75 + $11.25 = $86.25. If you are paying via credit card you'll never pay less than $86.25.

Re: A single missed payment can block a user with excellent reputation.

Malkazoid ·
Hey - thank you @Vico Biscotti and @Slaz - indeed, I was a bit overwhelmed with work and forgot to pay for the niche today. I think Slaz has the right idea about the conduct status - it isn't a massive influence, and I'm not worried about it at all. The interesting issue this does raise though, is that a person who forgets to pay for an auction receives the same exact penalty as a troll who creates fake accounts and attacks other Narrators and sabotages the platform. So I agree with @Vico...

@Malkazoid fell from 99 to 89, and will probably jump back up to 99 in about 10 hours or so, when the conduct penalty is lifted. 89 is still High Rep status, although I’m not sure if you can profit from the High Rep benefits while you’re Conduct Negative. The reputation score is based on 3 factors. Conduct status, quality analysis, and Certification. Both Conduct Status and Certification have a binary outcome. It’s either yes or no, 0 or 100. Quality Analysis is where it really matters. It’s...

A single missed payment can block a user with excellent reputation.

Vico Biscotti ·
To my surprise, I just noticed that @Malkazoid got a Conduct Negative because of failing to pay a niche he bid for (Trolling). Getting a conduct status of exactly 0 , for a member with an excellent track, makes no sense. I get that those measures were taken for cheating members, but something is seriously wrong here. One or two mistakes shouldn't ground active and honest members. In a range 0-100, zero should mean seriously bad conduct.

Vico Biscotti ·
@Slaz , I see that this is not a big problem for @Malkazoid in this specific case, still the conduct factor being a binary factor makes no sense to me. Also, this isn't clear. While certification is obviously boolean, anybody would expect conduct to be a number between two extremes. At present, you are Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader, with nothing in the middle. When a member with high rep makes a slip I expect him or her to be warned and have a penalty on the conduct, not to be presented as...

The need for other modes of verification

Onlinedollars ·
Presently, Narrative requires a user pays $15 for the verification process to commence so that such a member can be certified. The only mode of achieving this is payment with PayPal. However, PayPal payments had been used by most people here to get certified but there are people in locations where PayPal payments are not supported who intends to join the community. Such members of Narrative will lose the ability to get certified and also lose the opportunity of receiving the 30% reputation...

The need to have a stable date for payment

Onlinedollars ·
The content market is worth hundreds of billions and soon digital contents will take over the world. I believe that Narrative is losing out of this potential presently due to an unstable payment schedule for Narrators. We can observe that there is low level of commitment by both Narrators and Niche owners when compared to the traffic that was generated after the announcement of the April-May payment in June. I am advocating for a stable payment date when rewards will be sent out though read...

Lets allow split payments to buy niches

Drixx Madison ·
( As mentioned in my post earlier today ) I often fall 1-2k short of buying a new niche. If a niche auction costs 14k and I have 13k in rewards on the platform or in my Neon wallet, it would be super cool to be able to transfer it over and buy the last 1k with my debit card. It's hard for me to justify spending $75 out of the blue as a starving creative, but I can certainly swing $5.39+processing (which would be the actual amount for 1k Nrve today). The auction gives you 3 days to pay...

I can see no downside to giving people more options to pay. Of course the niche doesn't go live until it is 100% paid for.

As long as the personal information is for you and not your cousin, that is fine. You'll want to be sure to read this before you submit your documents. https://community.narrative.or...request-doesn-t-fail Supported documents are Passport, Driving License (cannot be temporary) and National Identity Card (also must not be a temporary)
