Polished Pebbles

Gerbino ·
Hi guys, As fellow early investors in Narrative, it is in our interest to be as active as possible. One way would be by reaching out to the world and spreading the Narrative message....but what is it? I’ve been wanting to reach out to potential content creators and moderators for my niches, and thought we should first align on some ‘polished pebbles’ for Narrative. By this I mean, If someone put you on the spot and asked you to explain Narrative, how would you do so in 5 succinct, polished...

I keep getting the following message when creating a post. Reference ID: [-2012367715][-704708435]0.5.1-a7402ec-prod-narrative-core-67bb4cd85d-z79hf
Question

private messages

Katherine Sophia ·
Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but how does one go about sending a private message on here? Or is that not allowed? I see under posts and conversations there is no option to make private. Thanks

I have been telling a lot of people. it isn't 5 polished pebbles though. so take it for what its worth to you. I start like this. "I am going to explain this like a waterfall. One droplet falls into another and although you may want to take a cup out and have a drink, I'd like you to stick with me to the end of my description before, you remove bits of info. " Then I say. "We can talk about cryptocurrency after I explain the Narrative platform because they are two separate ideas that have...

Re: Polished Pebbles

First pass, likely misleading but a starting point: Narrator is like a Facebook where content creators get PAID the ad money instead of payING for ads to get views. Content creators, who currently often get paid next to nothing (or in some cases actually nothing) will love it. The built-in content curating process is incentivized and democratic, yet possesses a quasi-hierarchical structure to ensure high quality content. That means quality will be better even pre-likes and claps. Users will...

This is an excellent discussion, and great job everyone. My quick sentence is " Narrative is a brand new content economy. It’s the first self-governing, user-friendly content platform that rewards members for quality participation." For people who are struggling with using more complex platforms like WordPress, you can also say, "wouldn't you like to be able to just sit down and write?" No more plug ins. Be part of a platform that helps you find your audience AND pays you. For those who are...

I'm liking this too. I was thinking about the algorithms and how they (now) serve advertisers not the users. "I am my OWN algorithm. I am the producer, not the product. "

the internet used to be such a cool place back when algorithms had not yet been invented. You could dive down deep into a rabbit hole and pop out in a weird wonderland....now days it keeps me contained in tight box. I love your quote @Michael Farris

Here on the support community, if you mouse over your profile picture you'll see "Private Messages" on the resulting popup menu. On mobile click the 3 bars at the top left, then your name. On the Narrative platform there is no Private Messaging feature.

Messaging

Malkazoid ·
Messaging is a very important aspect of social networks. It is an aspect of Narrative that has been left mostly undiscussed. When in the timeline is the messaging functionality going to be introduced? Beta launch? If there is a labor-effective way of launching some form of messaging earlier, I think we would find it would help enthusiasm for Narrative grow, and help the community grow. The alpha is not going to feel like a 'place' until the community can connect with each other properly...

Private messaging is not on our to-do list currently and will definitely not be included at beta launch. I agree that it should be considered for the future, however.

Note that you will be able to follow people on Narrative, and that is scheduled to be included for the initial Beta currently.

Re: Messaging

This is just a thought....since this community site already has a field for a telegram name, why not simply add a field in the profile UI on the alpha / beta site for this as well. Then people can reach out directly if they really wanted to until Narrative builds it's own messaging infrastructure in the future. This seems like a pretty simple stop gap measure to me.

Yes, having optional profile fields for social accounts is already planned.

Following up on this. We have handles in Alpha. Do we already have or will we have Twitter like notifications on Beta?

Not in the literal sense according to the white paper. But the way comments work, you can see niches as forums, posts/publications as topics, and comments as replies. It practically works the same.

How can we optimize the message section in posts?

Hi, I was thinking about how to optimize the message section on narrative posts. What do you think of such as inserting images or gifs? also are posts in posts moderated?

Text To Speech service provided by users. What about audio-messages?

alex_bio ·
Possible ways to use voices (literally, human voices) of Narrative community: 1. Audio-version of Narrative text content; 2. Test-To-Speech service for clients outside of Narraitve (making audio-books etc.); 3. Audio-messages feature on Narrative; Goals: -> A way to increase content accessibility for some categories of people (like visually impared individuals) (near 36 million people are blind) -> Educational materials, especially for language learners; -> A way to preserve...

Emoji's ? (emoticons) Real ones, not the kind you have to type in the symbols? If so, then yes!!! Especially animated ones!

maybe creating narrative themed emoticons what do you think? using the symbol of narratives as a mascot .. enter two eyes, two arms and a mouth and you're done

What about a pull-down of already created ones, @Dotman - like in the comments here - but with some Narrative-specific gifs and icons - maybe there's a volunteer who's good with the graphics among us?

All Narrative messaging needs to be clear and explicit

Christina Gleason ·
I've previously suggested that notifications for contributors to a newly rejected niche should be reworded because casual site users are interpreting it as their POSTS being rejected, not that their posts were fine, but will no longer appear in the now-defunct niche. Between the rejection of BLOG and the rejection of Writing, this was not improved. Now, I am (understandably, I'm sure) angry that I missed out on rewards for my extensive contributions to the support community because I didn't...

Christina, Yes, we could do better at our communication. We can always do better. We can agree on that. Regarding the Community Rewards, we’ve had a content block on the top of the right side of all of these community pages since November 2018. Almost 200 people clicked it, read the rules, and participated. We did promoted it more early on - but along the way, other programs like Referral Rewards were also out. We are sorry that you missed out on this opportunity. But Referral Rewards and of...

@David Dreezer I did receive a copy of the email when the Writing niche was rejected. While I understood it easily enough, many other people did not. I wouldn't have brought it up if there weren't very confused (and upset) people making posts wondering why their posts were rejected, or commenting on other people's posts with the same concern. I cannot recall who the members were, and the search function isn't helping at all to locate any of the posts as examples. I deleted my own email about...

I knew I'd read an official announcement about Community Rewards and it didn't mention Telegram at all! THIS is what I read. If it's not in the announcement, why would I look elsewhere for additional requirements? It was a freaking announcement that ALERTS me to make sure my NEO address is in place to add or update it. Which I did . Posted by @Michael Farris : 100,000 NRVE are ready for distribution to active members of community.narrative.org . The first half of the reward pool was...

It was pointed out that some accounts still didn't have neo addresses in their profile - IE- the profiles were checked for neo addy's ahead of the payout. That telegram addresses were also missing could have been mentioned too. To just mention missing Neo addy's and not the missing telegram ones, seems remiss.

I have genuine sympathy for Christina and others who did not check the rules that required Telegram activity to qualify. #2 for those who TLDR. Like many, I don't read the EULA when I join things or click the "Read More" on pages. As a result, I miss out on things. But I kick myself when that happens, not someone else. I don't ask for rules to be changed because I assumed something else. I'll be closing comments now after this reply. If someone wants a separate private conversation, that's...
