Question about tagging to three topics

Emily Barnett ·
So many questions...so excited about creating on the platform...Also it is stimulating a plethora of new niche ideas, and i felt stagnant in this area only yesterday. @Ted and @Rosemary Ok, new question about publishing. What if your post is only specific to one niche. Such as the niche introduction... actually mentions the niche title, in the actual post title as an example. The content can fit into other categories, but pretty loosely. Is that ok?

Are you sure? I have five posts pending where I only selected one niche, the niche that I own.

Re: Question about tagging to three topics

Rosemary ·
You should be able to select only one or two Niches (or none, you can just publish to your own journal). If you're getting an error, or not seeing how to do that, can you please take a screenshot or copy the error so we can troubleshoot?

Niche membership privacy

Malkazoid ·
I was asked the following question by a G+ user today, about Narrative: That's G+ speak for: will everyone be able to see what niches you are a follower of, and will everyone be able to see all your posts by looking at your profile? That's an approximate translation, considering G+ circles are a social networking component that Narrative has no equivalent for, and apparently no plans to implement. (This lack of a strongly social component to the Narrative paradigm may prove to be...

Re: Niche membership privacy

David Dreezer ·
Hi Malk, In Narrative all posts are public. There is no concept of private posts. Everything you post is out there to be seen. Now, as to which Niches you're following, that's different, and is part of your Member Profile. Right now there is no way for anyone to view what Niches another individual is following, what other Members they may be following. As we move along though, visibility of some of those things will become options that you as a Member will to able to decide. You'll be able...

I have one or two pending posts that I only tagged to one niche because that was the only active niche that seemed appropriate. Basically no big deal if you don't tag to three topics.

Question about images on the posts

Emily Barnett ·
Hey is it just me, or is anyone else noticing their images disappearing from their posts that are queued up? Is there a size limit or something. I need to resolve this before we launch, because several of my images keep disappearing.

Hi @Emily Barnett ! We aren't aware of any such issues. Can you provide a few more details about what's happening? How exactly is the issue manifesting itself? Are there broken images? Do you have any screenshots or error messages you can provide? If you could also provide the URL to the edit post page of a post having this issue, that would be helpful for us to look into specific posts to try to diagnose what's going on. Thanks!

Re: Question about images on the posts

Hi @Brian Lenz looks like a broken image. But I know i have uploaded via the insert tool, not trying to drag and drop. I have many that have failed after saving. I have re-uploaded but the break again. So i am wondering about file size.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, @Emily Barnett . We've been busy putting the finishing touches on the next release. Thanks for providing the details; it's all we needed to confirm the problem There is currently an issue isolated to images that have a space in the filename. This is an issue that is actually already fixed as part of the upcoming Certification & Onboarding release. For now, I would recommend you only upload files that do not have a space in the filename to avoid...

Re: Question about images on the posts

Hmmm. That obviously doesn't sound right, @Emily Barnett Would you mind posting another screenshot to show what you're seeing? Then we can try to replicate and determine if there is a fix. My main suggestion would be to try to backspace/delete/highlight the errant character to try to remove it, but I'm sure you've already tried most of those

Re: Question about images on the posts

Sure, here is a screen shot. So i deleted the broke n link and the caption that was with it, but as i deleted the caption this greater than symbol appeared. It wasn't in my caption. I cannot delete it not can i move my paragraph up to the top, it is like it is still occupying the space where the picture once was. I hope that helps.

Re: Question about images on the posts

Emily Barnett ·
It won't let me do anything. I can click on the symbol itself but cannot delete it. I can click on the very top of the page but not where the image was. I can click where the text begins, but i can not delete the spaces above it.

Re: Question about images on the posts

Brian Lenz ·
There's one thing you can do to get rid of it to save you from having to create a whole new post. I will admit this is not at all intuitive, so we are looking into ways to improve it: Click up right before where the > is in what used to be the caption. Hit the delete key ( not backspace, but the forward-delete key). That should remove the > character. Even though you can't see the element there, repeat the process (starting with another click in step 1) to remove the rest of the space.

Re: Question about images on the posts

Brian Lenz ·
It can work (I've done it with this exact scenario), but you have to be really careful about where you click. The problem is exacerbated by the fact that the cursor doesn't appear when you click in the caption in this case, so it's very hard to see. If you're still having trouble with it, unfortunately the only option right now is to create a new post and delete the old one. Sorry I don't have a better answer! We have this logged for further investigation. It's definitely a strange case that...

How all contents searched/flowing in narrative website after beta launched?

MALAY BANERJEE ·
I want to ask some questions to our narrative community members. How our contents will searched in narrative website? It is not possible for curator to search each and every niche for reading and curating good contents they like. How our contents circulating in narrative website? Is there any Hot and trending page? Or every contents will treated equally? Flow of contents are random in nature or there are certain algorithm for flowing contents in narrative website? Please answer my question. ...

Asking Narrative staff using reddit terminology... is there going to be an /n/All like there is /r/All? And a personalized front page once people start following the niches they're interested in? (I never use /r/all on reddit, instead choosing my front page that only shows me posts from the subreddits I follow, but my husband prefers to see everything using /r/all.) I'm still holding out hope that Narrative will become the more civil version of reddit - you know, where people can write about...

ASK NARRATIVE is a great way to create more content quickly!

Christina Gleason ·
Once you've found your favorite things on Etsy to post about, as recommended by @Malkazoid, come up with some fun questions to Ask Narrative , which is one of my niches, and apparently a GREAT way to build your rep, since comments that answer your questions contribute to your quality score! Since the title field has a strict character limit, you may need to split up your question with ellipses between the title and subtitle, or even the body text. The following are...

private messages

Katherine Sophia ·
Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but how does one go about sending a private message on here? Or is that not allowed? I see under posts and conversations there is no option to make private. Thanks

Here on the support community, if you mouse over your profile picture you'll see "Private Messages" on the resulting popup menu. On mobile click the 3 bars at the top left, then your name. On the Narrative platform there is no Private Messaging feature.

Scheduled Posting & Paying NRVE for Audience Analytics

Dillon Hamilton ·
I recently posed a few questions considering the possibility for Narrators to pay NRVE in order to receive valuable audience analytics in return. My original post can be viewed here . I'm struggling personally to understand what I should create and then when to post it. I want to serve my followers with valuable content and at a time convenient to them. Please, read my post for the full context, but here are a couple of the questions posed. "Could it ever be possible, in the future, to use...

Scheduling time is certainly needed. About analytics, I hope they will come, but free for all. I'd like all writers having the same opportunities, inside a community, and analytics is an essential tool. Else, connection with Google Analytics would be appreciated. I prefer paid services (publications, advertising, etc.) to remain distinct from the core writing thing.
