Hey is it just me, or is anyone else noticing their images disappearing from their posts that are queued up? Is there a size limit or something. I need to resolve this before we launch, because several of my images keep disappearing.
Hi @Emily Barnett ! We aren't aware of any such issues. Can you provide a few more details about what's happening? How exactly is the issue manifesting itself? Are there broken images? Do you have any screenshots or error messages you can provide? If you could also provide the URL to the edit post page of a post having this issue, that would be helpful for us to look into specific posts to try to diagnose what's going on. Thanks!
Hi @Brian Lenz looks like a broken image. But I know i have uploaded via the insert tool, not trying to drag and drop. I have many that have failed after saving. I have re-uploaded but the break again. So i am wondering about file size.
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, @Emily Barnett . We've been busy putting the finishing touches on the next release. Thanks for providing the details; it's all we needed to confirm the problem There is currently an issue isolated to images that have a space in the filename. This is an issue that is actually already fixed as part of the upcoming Certification & Onboarding release. For now, I would recommend you only upload files that do not have a space in the filename to avoid...
Hmmm. That obviously doesn't sound right, @Emily Barnett Would you mind posting another screenshot to show what you're seeing? Then we can try to replicate and determine if there is a fix. My main suggestion would be to try to backspace/delete/highlight the errant character to try to remove it, but I'm sure you've already tried most of those
Sure, here is a screen shot. So i deleted the broke n link and the caption that was with it, but as i deleted the caption this greater than symbol appeared. It wasn't in my caption. I cannot delete it not can i move my paragraph up to the top, it is like it is still occupying the space where the picture once was. I hope that helps.
It won't let me do anything. I can click on the symbol itself but cannot delete it. I can click on the very top of the page but not where the image was. I can click where the text begins, but i can not delete the spaces above it.
There's one thing you can do to get rid of it to save you from having to create a whole new post. I will admit this is not at all intuitive, so we are looking into ways to improve it: Click up right before where the > is in what used to be the caption. Hit the delete key ( not backspace, but the forward-delete key). That should remove the > character. Even though you can't see the element there, repeat the process (starting with another click in step 1) to remove the rest of the space.
It can work (I've done it with this exact scenario), but you have to be really careful about where you click. The problem is exacerbated by the fact that the cursor doesn't appear when you click in the caption in this case, so it's very hard to see. If you're still having trouble with it, unfortunately the only option right now is to create a new post and delete the old one. Sorry I don't have a better answer! We have this logged for further investigation. It's definitely a strange case that...
Hello all... I seem to recall this having been an issue earlier on, but thought it had been resolved. I recently wrote the introductory post for the Synchronicity niche: https://www.narrative.org/post/the-synchronicity-niche The last image of the post - of cranes flying above water, appeared successfully in the post for several days. Today however, it was replaced with a very small icon I took to represent content that is no longer available (a sort of 'not found' icon). You'll probably find...
Hey @Malkazoid , It looks like this may have happened to you again with: https://www.narrative.org/post/hodor-doorstop My suggestion is to leave this as is so the team can debug the issue...I don't believe a history is kept when you edit...so it's probably best not to blow away the evidence just yet. @Narrative / @Brian Lenz can someone look into this?
Thanks for the heads up @Banter ... The problem may be a little different this time. At least for me - that image displays when I am on the post itself. In listings, there is no image. Is it the same for you? I won't be posting any content until this is resolved... waste of energy - a post needs all the chances on its side to do well when it first hits the content stream.
Hey @Malkazoid , Sorry to hear you're having issues with images disappearing. We'll definitely work to fix the issue so you can post with confidence. I know how frustrated you must be It's definitely more challenging to troubleshoot when the post has been updated to fix the broken image, so I'm glad @Banter caught this one while it was still live. We are still gathering diagnostics to see if we can identify what happened. For this Hodor Doorstop post, I see the link to the broken image is:...
Hi @Brian Lenz - yes, that is the exact filename. Good luck! As I mentioned, this issue is manifesting a little differently to the one I described for the Synchronicity post. Hopefully they both have the same root cause.
Hi @Colleen Ryer , I'm not seeing any other similar issues. Are you talking about the Discover page? What specific feed URL? (Note that I won't be able to see your personalized feed in Home.) Do you have URLs to any of the posts that have broken images? Everything I've looked at appears correct; the posts without thumbnails don't have any attachments, which is the expected behavior. Thanks
@Brian Lenz , oops, my bad, the posts besides @Malkazoid 's I'm pretty sure were intentionally posted without an image, so that's why there's no thumbnail for them - I don't see a little image icon on these posts, at any rate. Sorry for the false alarm.
@Malkazoid , digging for more details here Did you do anything with the image in the post after you uploaded it? Did you drag it/move it within the post? Did you cut it out of the post and then paste it back in? Anything else that you can think of / remember that you did with the image in the post while drafting / editing? Thanks!
I wish I could remember with certainty but I can't... It is certainly possible that I accidentally cut out the image then pasted it back in: that has happened recently, just not sure if it happened with this post.
OK, no worries! I think we've got a bead on the problem (and it probably is related to cutting the image and putting it back in). We'll make some improvements in this area to ensure that particular scenario will no longer cause issues!
@Malkazoid et al., We've deployed what should be a fix for this bug, so please do let us know if you continue to experience any issues with images disappearing from your posts! I'll close this support ticket now. Thanks again for reporting
