I would have to disagree. Voting is not mandatory. If you don't feel like something deserves a Yes vote doesn't automatically mean you have to vote No. The 3rd option is to just not vote at all on that Niche. Just because I don't understand something or think it isn't properly described is not justification enough for me to cast a No vote. As always, just my thoughts.
Being the devil's advocate here: I didn't understand your niche, nor I had ever heard in my life the concept "New Parish". Had to google it now to understand what it was, and then after all the polemic here I decided to vote for it. Maybe that's why people didn't vote for it?
Hey Everyone, Don't forget to vote on Niches. With an influx of new members, there are a lot of new Niche suggestions in the Ballot Box. Please go in and vote. Remember, voting on niches helps build your reputation on Narrative! Molly
Friends, please vote NO for "how to grow marijuana" this is all ready a niche: CANNABIS Marijuana strains, concentrates , cultivation, medical benefits, and more" Cultivation IS growing and Cannabis IS Marijuana so to have cultivation in the existing niche Cannabis makes This new idea of :how to grow marijuana a double. Please vote no
I think voting on niche suggestions - up OR down - should no longer be a reputation gaining activity. Neither should suggesting niches. I think we've all watched new user accounts do nothing but suggest and vote on niches until they have 30-40 rep. Maybe they start posting then, but I suspect many of them never start posting at, but instead act as sock puppet accounts with higher rep to vote for the user who created these accounts.
Thanks for appreciating. I created the thread, as pointed out by fellow member David, after posting comment in this thread. It took sometime to become familiar with process of posting a new thread here. As goes with telegram, I informed other project communities, that I am following, in their telegram groups, like Raven btcp, and got banned temporarily, still trying to figure out why. Anyways a direct link to vote is https://aiodex.com/vote/Nar It's only 13 votes there. Can admins inform...
Thanks @Ted - I think after the initial scramble when those explicit niches came up, the community has now settled into trusting this is issue is squarely on your radar. This thread helps to underline things are underway. Just one item I wanted to flag with you: This sounds intuitive, however there is a risk with this, of a window of danger before the community can vote for the niche rating to change. I hope we can come up with some way of closing that window. Perhaps a niche can be excluded...
@arajpoot - this would be a good thing to start a new thread about so it is more visible to the whole community! You can also post it to Narrative's Telegram channel, and reddit! Good find. Do you know if it is a decentralised exchange they are building? I couldn't find much info.
This. This is why I vote the way I do, even if I'm the only person to vote to reject. As someone else suggested the other day, reducing the 7-day penalty for having your suggested niche rejected would help a LOT, especially now that rep is live. A time-out for suggesting niches no longer seems necessary. A person can choose to ignore the advice given to successfully suggest a niche, but then their reputation will be burned to the ground. That's a big deal now. If nine newbies vote to approve...
I moved the topic to the Niche Discussions area. There is a considerable discussion going on of the broader themes. In the meantime, this is a good place to discuss the particular niche and why you think people should vote for or against it. There is also room for comments within the suggestion itself to explain your vote.
I don't see any reason to limit who can suggest and vote on niches as long as there is no benefit attached to doing so. No reason to keep new accounts completely disengaged, as their votes don't count as much until they earn reputation on the platform.
Thanks @Malkazoid , I think you're right. If Ted hadn't voted to reject my Niche, I think I would have just chocked it up as "confused voter syndrome"... But Ted did vote, and he's supposed to know this stuff.
Hi Bryan, I noticed this too. Seemed odd to me as well. But don't fret too much...When i voted for it, it popped you up into 63% with that one vote. There is hardly any members there yet. I am sure you will have more than enough votes from this small community as it begins to log on.
I confess to also having downvoted Beach Life and "Oil or Life", however after reading this post I can see that we need as many niches as possible to accommodate as many different views as possible - so I have now changed my vote. Thanks for changing my mind :-)
@Andreas Hauser thanks, yeah—I did the same thing with Dogs (which I love). I was thinking it has to be "unique" as in "interesting"—not "unique" as in "distinct". And like @ClosetCrypto said, regardless of whether or not I even understand what the Niche is, I'll vote for it if it's distinct.
And? This is where I cannot find the point that you are making? Yes, Moderators can vote on content. Just as you or I can. And anyone else not Conduct Negative. Please, what is your objection? Are you perhaps confusing CONTENT voting with the Moderators amplified weighting on COMMENTS?
Some sound better than others depending on how you pronounce Niche. Nod to @Emily Barnett NeeshTree sounds good. As does NitchIndex . NitchMap and NitchNet or NeeshMap and NeeshNet can work either way. Final Vote: NicheMap
Thanks for posting this as a discussion topic also. I saw the appeal, and wanted to comment on it too, but couldn't figure out how to do that: I saw the Vote Tally was "0" and clicked on the tab. But, it looked like all members of the Tribunal had voted "No" on the appeal. Language and Layout is funny that way: I think that column of Tribunal members could either just say " Tribunal Members " or " Undecided " or " Out To Lunch " or something
I feel as the site grows, there will be a need for feed just for niches I own or moderate. So I can first focus on those, make sure no tornadoes are happening, and then check rest of content I follow. Anyone who agrees say Aye! (Also click Vote button, coz it makes more sense)
Excellent! Good to see it is there... I could have sworn it was gone for a while, and when I posted about it, I think @Brian Lenz even mentioned it might come back... Anyway, glad it is there. I wonder if it is feasible to add a few characters so that it is clear there is a 20 vote threshold?
Continue on, but I think there needs to be a reminder to the discussion that there is only ever one version of the content, one set of votes, one set of comments. There is not a different version of the content for each niche, a different set of comments per niche, a different set of votes per niche. Whether the content is viewed in the Dog niche, the Cat niche, or the Ming Dynasty Vase niche it is the same content, thus a vote for "Wrong Niche" would be somewhat odd in certain...
Why is commenting optional when down-voting a post? This makes no sense at all. We need to know why people are down-voting, otherwise they can speed-vote without really having much of a reason. Most people are followers by nature, if they see a negative voting percentage they will be more likely to click down-vote, even if the Niche should be upvoted. Hold users accountable, don't allow for laziness to be rewarded.
@chrisabdey - the good news is that you can actually see the Niches you voted for (it should show your vote and ask if you want to change). Maybe concentrate on the ones that are on the first page that are expiring.
Hehe, I suggested this feature a while ago in a random thread.. Well anyway, implementing this is guaranteed to increase voting efforts from returning members, since they'll be able to quickly find whatever niches they have yet to vote on.
When you block a person, they can no longer invite you to a private message or post to your profile wall. Replies and comments they make will be collapsed/hidden by default. Finally, you'll never receive email notifications about content they create or likes they designate for your content.
Note: if you proceed, you will no longer be following .
