Roadmap strategies

TommyX ·
I have some points which might have been clarified already in the whitepaper, but what is your overall strategy when it comes to market approach? How will the roadmap resonate with growing the presence in the market over time in order to compete with established products? I think it is definitely a great idea, but with great ideas there is need for even greater long term strategies. Thanks for the clarifications and Good luck!

NRVE Market Value

Gerbino ·
Hi guys. At the moment, there is no market for NRVE so I understand it’s pegged to NEO. Let’s say it is listed on Switchneo in the next couple of days, would you use their mid-market price as the market price, or would you wait until NRVE hits coinmarketcap, and use that rate (which I guess should be the same if only on one DEX). Hopefully the price will be such that Patrons only with 300 NRVE will be able to bid on a niche!

Time to spread the word about Narrative...collectively.

Emily Barnett ·
I know that we are all doing this already on an individual basis. So good. Great youtube posts, medium articles, and interviews. fantastic. I am starting a new youtube channel as well...hope to have some stuff to show later this week, that i think will help Narrative spread the word as well. It won't be Narrative specific but obviously a big part of my focus...in researching for my content, I have been looking at many other platforms, and i am discovering some really interesting things. Secondary Market

HI, Suggestion: A feature to resell a niche using NRVE. The would allow a niche owner to put a niche back up for auction and to sell privately . -Auctions would need a minimum bid option* Reason_ Life Things change and perhaps an owner looses the time needed to maintain a niche. The ability to unload to a willing person is key to keep the "narrative" engaged and vibrant. Whit

Marketing and exchanges are they connected?

Emily Barnett ·
Good morning Narrative peeps! So I read an interesting post on telegram this mornning from Andrés not sure if he is on the community board or not. He mentioned that from a marketing standpoint these small exchanges send out the wrong message, like a Ferrari dealership opening up in a low income neighborhood. Misplaced. So this got me wondering from a marketing standpoint if Narrative should be pushing hard to spread the word so that new token purchasers can get involved? Or, should the team...

Any Marketing Plans to create a Narrative Bounty?

Emily Barnett ·
Hello @Narrative Network Team, Has the team considered doing a token incentive Bounty campaign for signup, twitter, youtube videos, articles, etc. you could add that it has to have been promoted to a certain number like 1000 followers. such as a video needs to be tweeted via an account with a 1000 followers or posted on a subreddit account with over a 1000 followers. to ensure you are getting your tokens worth of promotion. Some bounty campaigns reward early promotion with a bonus...

Intrinsic Volatility of Niche pricing

shadowrifty ·
I bid on a niche yesterday and was perusing around thinking if it would be a good idea to bid on one again today. I noticed that the price for an initial bid went up. I checked the NRVE rate and saw the price to USD had fallen almost 50%. Then I was reminded that the starting bid was set to be around 75$ USD. I find this platform fascinating from an economics perspective, and this got my mind wandering. There is an intrinsic volatility in Niche prices because of to factors. 1. due to the...

Re: NRVE Market Value

Brian Lenz ·
Hey @Gerbino ! We will evaluate the situation once we are listed on an exchange. There are a lot of factors that potentially play into it (velocity of the market, price stability, API availability, and more). I can't say whether NRVE will have the ability to be listed on switcheo any time soon. It appears they are dealing with issues adding python-based NEP-5 tokens (which NRVE is). We'll certainly provide updates as we have them, but we can't speculate on the future regarding exchanges...

This is why I put on three neo instead of one. I am hopeful of picking up one niche with that and having a tiny bit left over to help someone else maybe get their niche.

No such hindsight here, played it too safe it appears. If I can't bid on a niche with my meagre amount of tokens, what else can I do with them?

Re: NRVE Market Value

Gerbino ·
Yes it doesn’t seem fair. It was in the plan to be listed on at least one exchange by now. I understand that the speed of the exchange listing process is not under the control of the Narrative Team, but, taking this into consideration, I personally I think the amount of time that you have to pay for a niche should be extended until you can purchase NRVE from an exchange

Re: NRVE Market Value

Emily Barnett ·
Maybe the Neo will miraculously spike therefore lowering the minimum bid. Failing that...many niches do seem to be looking dormant...soon even the founders will be out of or low on tokens (probably who knows how much someone bought) but they too are in the same boat (unable to purchase more). Hopefully when the exchange does become open, the team will give a window of time for the patrons to top up their wallets before opening the community up to the public.

Re: Roadmap strategies

Rosemary ·
Hi @TommyX ! Great question...and one of the big reasons we are raising funds is to ensure that we have marketing resources and infrastructure to compete at the highest levels. Our market attack is three-pronged: 1) influencer outreach (which is already underway) so that major content creating influencers come over to Narrative and bring their audiences with them. 2) Member-get-member viral loop built into the onboarding process for Narrative (and when people start talking about the money...

Re: Roadmap strategies

Thanks for clarifying Rosemary. A definite winner, if this will catch momentum and if the team will stick to it. To be honest there is also a bit of luck needed to launch features at the right time and in the right place. Many projects failed because they were launched at the wrong time, when trust in new crypto based projects was low and they just got forgotten. Speaking about economics, I think ads is a multi billion business, but you need traction and critical mass, which is to say,...

Re: Intrinsic Volatility of Niche pricing

Here's how paying for a niche woks. I don't remember WHERE I read about it, but when you bid on a niche, the USD value is locked in to the price of NRVE at the time of your bid. So if you pay for it in fiat, like I do, and there was no competition in the auction, you will never pay more than $75 + the 15% convenience fee for not paying in NRVE. However, if you DO pay in NRVE, there must be a way to strategically wait to place your bid so the NRVE will be as low as possible. (Bid when $75 =...

Re: Intrinsic Volatility of Niche pricing

Ahh thank you for that explanation. Now I am Very curios about how that bid exchange rate lock in works. Depending on how it works you end up with an entirely different issue. I bid on a niche yesterday, i bid a little more than 5K NRVE. Today somebody bids 6K NRVE, now if they plan to pay with fiat they both outbid me and pay less fiat than I would have. This seems the worst of both options for both the consumer, and the provider. assuming neither of us plan to pay with fiat currency. which...

Re: Intrinsic Volatility of Niche pricing

[This may be inaccurate, having read the response below.] Nope, the fiat price goes up incrementally when you are outbid according to the price of NRVE at the time of my ORIGINAL bid. (Source: I recently won an auction that had competition in the bidding, and my fiat price is ~$115, which translates properly in relation to my original bid when I did the math.) None of this is intuitive or made clear when you make a bid, but this is how the system currently operates.

Re: Intrinsic Volatility of Niche pricing

Brian Lenz ·
I just wanted to jump in to clarify a couple of things: 1) The initial bid price is determined on the $75 USD equivalent of NRVE, based on the current market price. 2) If you choose to pay with fiat, the amount you pay is based on the price of NRVE at the time of payment . The price of NRVE when you are bidding doesn't have anything to do with the eventual fiat price you pay. There is no price lock-in. Narrative uses a USD-pegged price for the minimum bid since the price of NRVE will surely...

Re: Intrinsic Volatility of Niche pricing

@Brian Lenz Wait, really? Because I remember reading from another staff member that it was the other way. So since I haven't paid for the niche I recently won (I have 11 days left) I could end up paying substantially less or more based on when I choose to make my fiat payment?
Reply

Re: Intrinsic Volatility of Niche pricing

Brian Lenz ·
Yep, really For fiat payments, you'll always pay a minimum of $75 + 15% = $86.25. But, if you bid a higher amount, then, yes, the fiat amount will fluctuate over time as the price of NRVE fluctuates...

Wow, yeah, the fiat price just dropped $10 since I posted my last reply. Which was $10 lower than when the auction first ended.

Re: Intrinsic Volatility of Niche pricing

Since I really don't understand crypto, when the fiat price drops, that's actually because the value of NRVE increased? Is that correct?
Reply

Re: Intrinsic Volatility of Niche pricing

Brian Lenz ·
No, the opposite. If you've already won the auction, the amount of NRVE is fixed. If the price of NRVE goes up, the price you will pay in fiat goes up. If the price of NRVE goes down, the price you will pay in fiat goes down (to the minimum of $86.25). Make sense?

Re: Intrinsic Volatility of Niche pricing

Christina Gleason ·
Oh yes, I get that. I just mean when my winning bid (8001 NRVE) goes from a "Pay with PayPal" fiat value of $115 to $86.25 (which it just did, so it's bought and paid for now!) that's because the exchange value of NRVE has either increased or decreased. Am I correct in thinking that my fiat price went down because the exchange value of NRVE went up? I'm just trying to understand how the market works. (I don't understand the stock market either.) This doesn't need to be answered by Narrative...

I was actually going to ask a question about this, but this answers it. I noticed that as soon as one of my suggested Niches was approved the minimum bid price at auction was 5,000+ NRVE, but within a few hours it had risen to 8,000+ NRVE. So if it's pegged to the equivalent of $75 USD, that would explain it.

So this is even more risky than I thought. Here is the question I have. Why use crypto at all? The company wants USD. The company can process USD. The company is so weary of the volatility of the crypto used that it insulated itself from the volatility of the crypto not only by pegging the min bid to USD but also setting the min fiat payment in USD regardless of the crypto price. Musing crypto alienated potential users, and seems to create needless barriers to use as well as extreme...

I've literally been messaging Melanie about bounties this morning, haha. I think we still have the potential to be rewarded according to the terms of the airdrop: "The Narrative Community managers may also apply points to users at any time (or, for troublemakers, remove points)." It's just not the same form of payment as a bounty, and that's okay.

Interesting read. Thanks for posting the link @Melanie Mathos , I respect the position @Rosemary is taking due to the principles around transparency, that Narrative is taking on; but it will make your job even more critically important since you will not have the organic outreach of the established content influencers that are not on the platform. I will be most interested in learning what plans the core team has to get the word out there, that Narrative exists in lieu of a bounty campaign.

Agreed. I mentioned for the marketing team @Melanie Mathos to reach out to Phil DeFranco months ago as he has 6.3 million subs, averages ab1.5 daily views, is cryptocurious, has promoted Brave tokens/browser, and regularly discusses the failing moves Youtube continues to make. I hope that the team has taken such suggestions. Unaware if they have. Anyway creating an advertisement on Youtube would be very worth it once we have video capacity in place in 2019.
