Two new niches looking for Moderators.

Bart ·
Hi. Not so new in Alpha, but this is my first post in the community section. I just bought my first two niches and am looking for moderators, who are into photography. Together we could turn these into pretty great niches. Take a look, if this interests you. Photography Competitions Fashion Photography

A question about Fair Use and the community, not the law.

Bart ·
I am working on my welcome post for my Fashion Photography niche. Although I intend to use mainly my original photographs, but I did just now, find the need to use an image from a vogue editorial as an example of another photographer's work that I am discussing in the post. And it opened up the idea that people may want to even discuss famous fashion photographers work, with included imagery. This is very normal "Fair Use" by fashion bloggers, photography bloggers, and even art critics, the...

Dear Narrators, what do you think about having the narrative platform on a mobile app for android and iOS? I noticed that it is already very responsive even for smartphone use, but an added value could also be to take it on mobile. What do you think ??????

When Down vote someone , Please reply a comment for justification.

MALAY BANERJEE ·
Sometimes I see someone downvoting me but don't know why I am downvoted by someone. So I want to raise a question for discussion in the community today when someone downvoting somebody, he /she should mention the reason for downvoting in the comments section. Downvoting is needed but for a valid reason is ok but if somebody downvotes others without any valid reason is not good. Please reply in the comment section for discussion. Thanks for everyone .

All Narrative messaging needs to be clear and explicit

Christina Gleason ·
I've previously suggested that notifications for contributors to a newly rejected niche should be reworded because casual site users are interpreting it as their POSTS being rejected, not that their posts were fine, but will no longer appear in the now-defunct niche. Between the rejection of BLOG and the rejection of Writing, this was not improved. Now, I am (understandably, I'm sure) angry that I missed out on rewards for my extensive contributions to the support community because I didn't...

Community Site Ranking has a Bug?

BloggerKrunal ·
I was looking on my community profile and saw 5194 points and my rank is 28 at the time of writing this. So out of curiosity I checked couple of one's and found @Robert Nicholson 's points are 4758 and his community rank is 24. Aha..! I don't bother about this as far as no one is getting any benefits of this. But I hope all the alpha community users got rewarded appropriately irrespective of their inappropriate rankings.

How it's possible for 2 users to have the same community rank? If I see @Garden Gnome Publications, he is on #13 rank with 12,112 points and @mrgoodsett is also on the same #13 rank with 10,729 points at the time of I'm writing this. Points difference is based on their valuable inputs and likes that I can understand. But how come both users have the same rank?

Re: Thinking ROI, or, Investor Unicorns

Malkazoid ·
Great thread! Like most people, I learned about Narrative because I was investing in cryptocurrencies. But investing is not a significant part of who I am, and when I discovered Narrative, my interest in it was immediate, and had little to do with dreams of riches. I think this is a sign Narrative has a winning attribute, if it can inspire this sort of response to it. Success generally starts with passion, not the other way around. Narrative cannot succeed long term with only the...

Agree. Not appropriate content should be banned with some code. For example if not appropriate content receive determined number of reports then system will ban this automatically... but even like this some large group of people could manipulate on network... I think that it is crucial for Narrative that this is solved in a fair way.

Re: The Organisation

ClosetCrypto ·
I think that is a very good question. I do not see much of an issue overall due to the way narrative is setup with the org handling the infrastructure and marketing while the community handles how narrative functions day to day as well as how it evolves. That being said what if the members of the org, being only 5 currently I believe, are all on the same plane as it’s sucked into the Bermuda Triangle? (Comedic relief as I don’t want to imagine an actual tragedy) Point being, what happens in...

Just to give you guys some comfort level...we have no travel plans to the Bermuda Triangle area in the near future Also, Narrative will not be run out of someone's basement. This is an actual company that will have live staff and structure in a physical location (we're currently in hiring mode). Part of running a real business is having things like disaster plans, "key man" insurance, and continuity plans, so that the operation can continue if something unexpected happens.

I'm in favor of the sub-tree hierarchical model of distribution, as we expand as a community it is inevitable over time groups will duplicate niches, and niches will not remain static and change overtime. As the community grows and the boundaries of what constitutes a niches area converges with other niches, the issue of the tribunal being used to challenge strong established communities could become a possible risk that could alienate groups within niches if we only accept mergers and...

Re: Sub-Niches or No sub-Niches...what's the issue?

Mark Hollingshead ·
The niches being EQUAL may be great in theory, design, and programming terms, but financially, entrepreneurially, and culturally they are not. Like domain names and real estate, the marketability, location, and relevance matter. Especially since money is spent annually to keep the niche. One pays for this in an effort to get a return. And those fees increase with its popularity. I haven't found anything discussing if you can share a post's link between niches, or if there is a simple reward...

Re: Sub-Niches or No sub-Niches...what's the issue?

Mark Hollingshead ·
Rewards for sharing: Just add reward points to the person/niche that reposts a link to a article/pic/video. As the members of one niche link through to the link, that link sharing niche gets some reward and the other post niche will grow and get rewards. This creates an atmosphere of content providers can decide more easily on where to post since they can get traffic from multiple niches easily, and niche owners are more accepting of sub/side niches since the niche gets rewarded for sharing.

This is a small divergence from the main topic, that said I came across a project in the launch stages that may provide another solution, it's called blinked. The way they are generating their advertising model is interesting and runs counter narrative. Instead of focusing on a central niche reward, they build their system to focus strongly on the user and empowering influencers, feels a bit like steemit that said it could be a clone of narrative in theory. I'm waiting on a whitepaper...

Re: Community forum digest

Mark Horler ·
I think maybe, instead of individual topics, it could be organised via the 'headline' topic areas - Company News, Narrative Platform & Niche Discussion. Summarising the discussion across those areas will tell the story - the narrative, one might say - of what's happening. Teasing individual threads/topics means that some must necessarily get excluded, and also means that if people aren't interested in the topics chosen, they may get excluded as well.

Hey - I feel bad, as if I haven't been paying close enough attention, because I did not see this coming! I have read some of your posts expressing concern over some of the team's decisions recently - is it from a lack of response by the team to those posts that you feel the forum isn't working? So you guys are interested in creating surveys yourselves, or us creating more surveys, or both? Curious to hear use cases...there is a survey functionality that's part of this community platform, but it's disabled for now (trying to keep things simple at the outset).

Re: Poll/survey function available for these forums

Both! You will know what information you want to get from the community, and the community will know what information it wants to present to you. Allowing the polls to be a two-way means of communicating will yield the best data set for you.

Re: Poll/survey function available for these forums

Malkazoid ·
Hey - That's a kind thought towards Founders @Madhanic but I personally would feel uncomfortable with my vote counting for more than other members. The team would probably be able to track and make separate tallies of Founder votes and other votes for their own purposes of better understanding the distribution of sentiment, but I think that would be best left for their internal purposes.
