Draft an introduction of yourself for the Narrative launch platform

Malkazoid ·
Hello! One of the most significant things we can do in preparation for launch is to each write a post introducing ourselves. Many of us did this here on this forum, but when the actual platform launches, those posts won't be visible there. Seeding the relevant community-oriented niches with Community-oriented content before launch is a key part of kickstarting the life of the Community on Narrative proper - and what better way to start than learning a bit about each other? There are at least...

Niche Specific Discussion Area

Banter ·
There has been some back and forth within the community on how to discuss things specific to a Niche. I propose having a Community area specific to each Niche, something like /n/Dogs/Community. This would essentially be a mini-community site specific to the Niche where people could interact with the owners and moderators in a public and contained way that other Niche subscribers could participate in.

5 things I really like about the Narrative platform. But first a confession.

Emily Barnett ·
Over the last 14.5 months that I have been waiting for Narrative to go live with content publishing capabilities, I have been a genuine advocate for the platform, but at some point after alpha was launched, I and others, seemed to have fallen into a whirlpool of good intentions by trying to make suggestions that would improve the platform. Graciously this community platform was provided to us, to voice whatever we wanted. I think that is terrific, but it did give many people, myself very...

Two new niches looking for Moderators.

Together we could turn these into pretty great niches. Take a look, if this interests you. Photography Competitions Fashion Photography

A question about Fair Use and the community, not the law.

Bart ·
I am working on my welcome post for my Fashion Photography niche. Although I intend to use mainly my original photographs, but I did just now, find the need to use an image from a vogue editorial as an example of another photographer's work that I am discussing in the post. And it opened up the idea that people may want to even discuss famous fashion photographers work, with included imagery. This is very normal "Fair Use" by fashion bloggers, photography bloggers, and even art critics, the...

Hi All! I am sure there will be a cornucopia of suggestions...before that happens remember, people seem very pleased. My first suggestion is to list a niche's number of followers, and possibly even who they are. I really think this is important for every level. Owners need to understand their investment. While niche approval needs community voting, the edit of the niche - even a major one - doesn't

Vico Biscotti ·
When the community votes for a niche, discussion and voting is based on the name and the description of a niche. However, a following edit, after the niche is purchased, can significantly change the meaning of the niche, as it happend with Creativity . And the community has no tools to appeal the edit (I already suggested different types of appeal ). I think that a major edit should undergo a discussion similar to the one on the approval phase, even if the niche has an owner. The community...

The approval of a niche displays the new description and not the original one

Vico Biscotti ·
As I recently noticed with the edit of the Creativity niche , the approval of the niche displays the new description, instead of the one originally approved. The new description may be very different from that approved by the community and this is confusing when consulting the approval. I think it would be better to display both the original and the current descriptions, in the approval page.

Sometimes I see someone downvoting me but don't know why I am downvoted by someone. So I want to raise a question for discussion in the community today when someone downvoting somebody, he /she should mention the reason for downvoting in the comments section. Downvoting is needed but for a valid reason is ok but if somebody downvotes others without any valid reason is not good. Please reply in the comment section for discussion. Thanks for everyone .

Hello, it would be appreciated to have as a feature the ability to see who put like or unlike in narrative posts. This is because it creates more transparency on those who comment in a way and provides different feedback (Example: "How nice the post I liked it very much!" - Unlike on the post). Furthermore, being able to respond to a comment in particular with a nice "answer" button under the comment would not be a bad thing ...

All Narrative messaging needs to be clear and explicit

I've previously suggested that notifications for contributors to a newly rejected niche should be reworded because casual site users are interpreting it as their POSTS being rejected, not that their posts were fine, but will no longer appear in the now-defunct niche. Such members of Narrative will lose the ability to get certified and also lose the opportunity of receiving the 30% reputation...

The list of previous posts, on the Community Site, should have an easier access.

Vico Biscotti ·
Yesterday an active member posted a suggestion similar to one I posted before. While it would be better to vote/comment existing open posts, duplications can happen, of course. It seems that the Narrative community is in deep trouble with illegal spam posts and something drastic needs to be done before it is too late. Mandatory Staking for Tribunal Elections

In my Community Advisory Group report, I communicated the need for staking. I believe it's the surest way to stabilize the NRVE economy. Staking can be required for a number of things, and should. It's a small measure, but anyone who wants to be on the Tribunal should show their commitment to the NRVE economy by proving...

if this cannot be built in, one work around for each niche owner is to start a thread here on the community page and past a link to it as a reminder from time to time in various posts the owner makes. It isn't an elegant solution but it would give everybody immediate access to make suggestions to the owner, and to be heard amongst the niche community.

A very timely thread indeed. To answer the questions asked. 1) I like that Narrative aims for decentralisation and quality. There are some tensions between these two goals, and we'll see how things develop on that front, but the goal is noble. 2) I like the types of people the platform has attracted so far. By and large, the existing community members are exactly the kind of people who can form the core of a committed community who believe in the democratic and open nature of Narrative. 3)...

I think it reminded me of an old content platform I used to be part of before it got sold to a competitor, only Narrative could be better and definitely gives members more leeway in the content they want to create and more of a stake in the platform as a whole. One thing that usually frustrated me about the old platform was that it banned some topics like e-cigarettes and marijuana, and that was frustrating if you had something you really wanted to say about e-cigs or marijuana instead of...

My understanding is that members will be able to earn tokens by creating quality content. So I'd say if you can't buy tokens (and, really, I imagine most people are buying tokens so they can buy niches?), then create good content and HODL until you get at least 1000 tokens (preferably more)!

NRVE is an utility to most people, used to buy niches and reap rewards. Although there are people holding on quantities of NRVE as an investment, I don’t see how that directly contributes to the quality of Narrative, it’s content, and it’s community.

I agree, there is no direct relationship between the NRVE value and the quality of the platform. However, the higher the NRVE value, the higher is the marketcap, and the attention from the whole crypto community. This usually leads to more free advertisement, because the famous crypto youtubers will start creating videos about the Narrative platform for free, many new investors who have not noticed Narrative so far, will get curious and some of them might also join the platform. Just an additional obvious thought - if the token price rises, the impression all Narrators will receive is that their earnings are appreciating. This is a powerful psychological effect, because people will naturally project appreciation into the future. If the NRVE token is one day worth .50 cents, the 100 dollars worth of NRVE you earned in your first year of posting to Narrative would then be worth closer to 3500 dollars. Result - everyone will be more active on the platform to earn NRVE...

Just a simple, yet powerful calculation: if 100 users work hard and find 50 new users each, we get 5000 additional users in no time. Once we have reached a critical mass, there will be no more necessity of active advertisement because then people will recommend Narrative to their friends in masses.

Yes - and I like to look at this in relation to niche owners. We have 319 niche owners, and 808 purchased niches, which gives an average of 2.53 niches per owner. A reasonable initial amount of promotion for a niche would involve getting at least 4 content creators to join Narrative and contribute content to your niche. If a third of our niche owners do a good job of their initial promotion, then about 105 niche owners will find 4 content creators for their 2.53 niches, resulting in around...

If the NRVE value goes up due to people investing when there has been no proven value to the platform, it will be false value. The value of the platform itself needs to be proven before we can expect serious investment. To get there, we need a solid base of users who are creative valuable content. So it's really a question of what is value based on. It isn't based on the cryptocurrency itself. It's based on the underlying asset, which is the content created the users.
