Spending a Reward or Paying it Forward

Michael Farris ·
At the heart of the Narrative vision is this idea that people really are the owners of what they post. By "own," of course it means you deserve reward where that is available. It also means you "own" the responses and support of your readers. For good, or sometimes for ill The NRVE token will allow a free-flowing economy around social media. Some people really will be able to make a living this way. Great content multiplied by great reputation multiplied by great reach will bring NRVE into...

I think Narrative as an platform can boost sharing, there are other platform with revenue sharing with ads like google adsense where lot of people had built reputations and created wealth as well. Narrative is bringing this on blockchain which is the future of sharing and creating fan base along with earning. Potential lies it self in idea and the execution moving ahead.

Re: Spending a Reward or Paying it Forward

One great aspect about the Narrative platform is that it doesn't just reward the content creators. There are people out there, the " party-pumpers " and the " hype-men ", that will be evangelizing the content. They recruit both content producers and consumers. Michael sums it well: I don't know how important the content will be that I contribute, but I know that I'll be doing my very best to recruit creators and encourage participation. The heavy-lifting has to be done by someone. If...

What is an NEP-5 Token?

Rosemary ·
The Narrative token (NRVE), pronounced "nerve", is an NEP-5 NEO token. If you're contributing to our token sale, you'll need to have a NEO compatible wallet. Here's a handy blog post that explains how to set one up: https://hackernoon.com/a-step-...-in-neo-c53c80bf99e9 It is imperative that the NEO wallet/account you use for our token sale be one that you own and hold the private keys for, because if you do not have the private keys for the account you will not be able to claim your NRVE tokens.

How many NRVE tokens will be minted for the token sale?

Rosemary ·
We will mint 100 million NRVE tokens at the conclusion of the token sale. Of that total, 50 million will be available for Token Sale purchasers. The breakdown: Crowdsale Contributors : 50% / 50 million tokens Company Reserves : 30% / 30 million tokens Team : 20% / 20 million tokens Tokens allocated to the team will vest over a 3-year period that does not begin until we actually roll out the network. Tokens allocated to Company Reserves vest over a two-year-period, beginning at the close of...

Will I need to have GAS to participate in the token sale?

Rosemary ·
To contribute to our token sale, you don't need GAS; however to transfer NRVE after the sale, you may need a "drop" of GAS, depending on the wallet you use.

Re: Spending a Reward or Paying it Forward

Malkazoid ·
I've posted this elsewhere, but it bears repeating here since it is relevant to Michael's question. One of the ways I'd like to spend part of my rewards is by upvoting content I appreciate on the network. I'd like to see tipping integrated seamlessly into 'liking'. It is a win-win scenario as far as I can tell. A) it discourages like-spamming for self enrichment B) it does what every economy should do, reward hard work in the most direct manner possible. If I like your content, I'm saying it...

Another interesting way to spend rewards could be on Narrative Bonds? If the platform needs to raise money again in the future, one option could be to borrow funds from the existing user base, offering a fair interest rate for the risk the lender would be taking. I believe in this effort, and would naturally consider supporting it further in this way. I do not know about financial regulations associated with offering a financial product of this sort - but if it is feasible, it could be a...

Cool - glad this is of interest. So, there could be two kinds of Narrative bonds. 1) A Narrative Platform Bond that lends NRVE to the Narrative platform itself, should it require raising cash at various stages for further development, datacenter upgrades, etc... Type 2) A member-issued bond that funds that member to complete an initiative. Ideally it would be an initiative that benefits the Narrative Community. This brings us to what types of initiatives within the community might require...

I am really interested in all these comments. @Malkazoid I think you get the deeper sense of "economy" we want to develop. Just as we have in day-to-day society, there is an economy of supporting things we like. We vote with our feet and encourage things without thinking about it much (where do you buy coffee? Stop for gas? Go on your day off) I'd like there to emerge in Narrative that kind of easy economy. Truth is, I'm not a famous writer or Brand owner. So I expect my rewards will be...

I really like idea on Narrative that you can't buy reputation with NRVE and without bringing good content you will not have high reputation and get rewarded. I think that you should add some feature to NRVE token beside being used for network payments. I think that it would be very useful for Narrative and NRVE that user get rewarded for holding NRVE. I think that this will improve usability of NRVE and there will be more holders. Like this what is now I think that most of people will not...

Additional thoughts on reputation, based on what I've gleaned of other aspects of the NEO blockchain. Identity functionality in development on the NEO blockchain could seriously bolster Narrative reputation, providing real world reputation augmentation of a purely virtual reputation system. CV's and references can become part of the equation, as well as credit history if that is useful for some aspects of the Narrative Economy.

What is the ambition for NRVE?

Malkazoid ·
In discussion in another thread, Eduardo and I realised its probably a good idea to discuss with the Narrative Team what their ambitions are for NRVE. Is it something they want to make quite visible, and see appreciate over time? Or will they be putting primacy on displaying fiat everywhere they can on the network in a bid to make the platform feel more accessible to people? Personally, I think I lean towards thinking people aren't inherently afraid of new currencies, rather they fear the...

NRVE will be front and center, since it is the currency of the network. That said, we want to make those that are not familiar with crypto to feel very comfortable, as well. Thus, you will likely see fiat equivalents (based on current market prices) listed, as well.

With implementing dividends for staking NRVE you will improve NRVE in a way that people will have reason for holding NRVE. Without this, NRVE will just be used for payments on network and you will not hold more than you need for payments...

Great - good to know. While we're on the topic, and forgive me if I have missed this in the WP or elsewhere, but is there any intent to introduce forms of staking NRVE for returns? I had an interesting beginning of an exchange with Michael Farris about the potential for Narrative bonds to be a 'thing', and I suppose that's a very similar concept.

Re: What is the ambition for NRVE?

No, NRVE is purely a utility token and thus we have no plans to allow people to earn dividends purely by holding the NRVE tokens. Our concurrent project, Native, though, which Narrative will utilize may be of interest to you, however. More on that later.

I-i-interesting... I'm guessing this is still a top secret project, so no pressure to elaborate. Looking forward to hearing more when the time comes. If Native interacts with Narrative, I imagine it would bring something good to the table for there to be an appreciating store of value within the ecosystem. But an absence of one might have the positive effect of causing users to seek that by supporting other users and their niches or channels or brands, if some form of revenue sharing is on...

Why am I just finding out about this UI presentation? It breaks my heart... Though, back to the fiat/NRVE discussion, I think we just need a hybrid, as @Ted proposed. Something like 1 NRVE ($25) and let users pick their base currency (like on any e-commerce site.) Cheers!

I love Michael's idea of commissioning an author in advance. That could be really fun. I wonder if the tutorial market is something suited to Narrative... If you are someone who has developed a bunch of great video tutorials that are currently on offer on other platforms that take a cut for from your sales, Narrative could be an outlet where there is no such middle-man, and people could pay for their tutorials in NRVE? This raises the question of whether simple store functionality could be...

I think @cicbar brings up a valid point. Investors will want to see some growth with the NRVE token. I understand that additional income will come in from advertising once that is started. As I had thrown out in another post, in year two another 5mil coins will be minted. By offering a staking reward, that would take those tokens out of circulation. I am sure the Leadership team, already has a plan to cover all of this, it just is not out yet. Maybe Native is the project that will cover all...

Thoughts on Partnerships with Narrative to Show Added Value to Help Attract More Users

CryptoPhil ·
I have been doing on research on some other investments that I am looking to get into both ICO's and Projects already in place. The one that I am planning on getting in on is THOR which is also off the NEO platform. They basically want to help out those working in the GIG economy, to help them get paid faster, make it easier to apply for jobs in the GIG world, and to bring benefits such as 401k's, insurance, etc. to them. I was thinking since Content Creators are part of the GIG economy, why...

One huge partnership* could be with Automattic—the Word Press developers? This partnership could: create more Word Press bloggers, and make it simple for existing WP bloggers to port to Narrative, and start monetizing their content with NRVE or fiat. I'm not how Automattic makes money with Word Press... nor do I know how to make this partnership appear valuable/essential to their business objectives. But, Narrative is going to need to make "porting" blogs to the Narrative platform SUPER...

Great Time to buy NRVE with NEO down.

I love buying the dip, whenever I see NEO low and undervalued, I just feel the need to get some more. And you are right, the ratio does not change (1 NEO=300 NRVE), so it is a good time to get some more NRVE...let's say at a discount? Hoping for a nice recovery as 2018 has been brutal. We will see what the future brings, so much uncertainty right now and FUD.
