It's looking like we will be deploying the v2 update for the Alpha within the next hour or so, but keep in mind that the upgrade process will result in about 2-3 hours of downtime for the Alpha, when it happens. This community site will not be impacted when that downtime occurs for the Alpha.

There is no specific number of rounds before beta. And I do not have a specific date to give, but I do have a timeline. Here it is.

I sure hope it is soon. the interest in Narrative really seems to be fizzling as time goes on. I know I was hoping to see the beta launch at the beginning of the fourth quarter....now as we approach December I am just hopeful that the team meats the target, and that we can start posting by the end of 2018. I think this is critical.

Re: How long until BETA launch?

Malkazoid ·
I'm a little concerned too. In 5 days we'll be half way between the release of the revamped alpha and the promised Beta launch - and we have not seen any of the incremental updates that were supposed to slot in along the way. This tells me we're not on track for Beta, OR development is happening on many fronts at once and they are all going to bear fruit around the same time. This second possibility mostly kills the notion of incremental updates but at least would mean we might still be on...

Re: How long until BETA launch?

I'm not too worried at this point. Outside of our little crypto-sphere, blogging platforms that aren't even workable would never generate any serious interest anyway. I wouldn't want to see any serious advertising campaign until Narrative has a full working product beta. The worst thing you can do as a developer, is to release half-baked software to the world, because you only get one chance to make that first impression. I'm speaking for myself here, but I haven't even looked at any...

Re: How long until BETA launch?

I'm still confident that the team's going to make a beta launch in December. That's technically still along the lines of the original roadmap, albeit a little stretchy. I do still feel that Narrative needs a mobile app for Android & iOS to launch with (or sometime within) the beta test. Even if the platform is fully responsive for any common screen size, me and the 'average joe' will look for their online services in the App/Play Store and want to use it from the comfort of their home...

Re: How long until BETA launch?

Hm yes I did not really consider this so far. A mobile app would be essential. Would also be nice if we get the moderator tools now at some stage. And ahem the starting bid for a niche is now closing in on 10K NRVE.

The roadmap does say: December - Launch Narrative Beta - Conclude waitlist program, enable open registration, and Narrative staff continues to refer everyone to the roadmap when we ask about timelines, so I'm thinking we WILL get Beta next month.

Everyone that took part, or referred another person should pat yourselves on the back a little. Last time that I looked at the member count was when Melanie posted about passing 5k users and it's been a few rounds since then. Stop and think about that. Of the oodles of ICO and token sale projects out there, how many today have more than 5k users? How many are growing users? 435/500 on round 17. Amazing! 17 rounds of referrals from the community! From in here at Narrative Central (I just made...

More users is all good and well but more functionality please. And more exchanges. Switcheo might have problems down the road. People must be able to buy NRVE tokens easily.

Re: How long until BETA launch?

Slaz ·
Also note that a good chunk of those 10k users probably doesn't care about NRVE and crypto (yet), and signed up because they're interested in a social network that doesn't eat their users while being feature-rich and accessible. Of course NRVE is what determines the value of the network and thus it should be made as easy as possible to obtain. My favorite exchange at the moment is definitely KuCoin, which isn't trading NRVE yet. I've been way more careful with shady exchanges after the...

hm Kucoin they will never cough up the money for that I think. This is why I was hoping for cobinhood before they start adding more high volume tokens/coins and decentralize based on Dexon

Private messaging is not on our to-do list currently and will definitely not be included at beta launch. I agree that it should be considered for the future, however.

Note that you will be able to follow people on Narrative, and that is scheduled to be included for the initial Beta currently.

Re: Messaging

This is just a thought....since this community site already has a field for a telegram name, why not simply add a field in the profile UI on the alpha / beta site for this as well. Then people can reach out directly if they really wanted to until Narrative builds it's own messaging infrastructure in the future. This seems like a pretty simple stop gap measure to me.

Re: Referrals and rewards pre-Beta

Malkazoid ·
Hi! It is a little confusing because of the history of how referrals evolved. Initially, there was only the Alpha referral rewards - as you point out - 9 NRVE per referral. For many people, this is not much of an economic incentive and I think many of the people making referrals are doing so simply because they believe in the platform rather than for monetary gain. Then recently, the Team decided to dedicate some of NRVE that will be unlocked after Beta Launch, to what I can only assume will...

Re: Referrals and rewards pre-Beta

New Social Media ·
Hi Malcolm, thank you for your reply! Dont get me wrong, my personal focus is neither on maximizing the amount of NRVE gained by referrals, this would be far too time-consuming I guess. But if there is a substantial mismatch between now, January and the start of the Beta, March, some people might delay their referrals until then because that way they can acquire more NRVE which might not be beneficial for the growth strategy of the project. In my opinion, the overall rewards strategy should...

Re: Referrals and rewards pre-Beta

Malkazoid ·
I agree! And I didn't suspect you of chasing NRVE! Just sharing my opinion of what might be currently motivating many of the referrals. I'm not 100 percent sure what the Team sees as the ideal adoption rate right now. It is possible that they don't particularly need the platform to grow much more before launch, and are hoping to accelerate growth at that time. They might have an ideal target for membership numbers for each stage of their release schedule of feature, leading up until Beta...

Hi @Ted, thanks for quick response. So if Beta is launched by March as planned; should a niche purchased in October 2018 be up for renewal in October 2019?
Reply

Re: Niche Renewal

Ted ·
No, it would be up for renewal in March 2020 then. Basically, anyone who purchased a niche prior to the launch of the beta will have their initial term BEGIN on the day the beta launches, with the first anniversary one year later.

What happens to a niche if the owner does not want to renew it anymore? I suppose it will go back to the auction, right? But then, until it will be purchased again, no one will be able to post in this niche, correct? But what about posts that are already there in the niche? Will they still be available for reading and voting?

Re: Rate of opening up new rounds on Alpha!

Drixx Madison ·
I noticed the same thing! I came in on round 13 in Oct and we're already in round 25. So in 4.5 months at 30 days, we're signing up around 42 new people each day. But according to network stats we have 6,760 total members, which would mean each round of 25 didn't contain 500 members.

Re: Rate of opening up new rounds on Alpha!

Emily Barnett ·
I noticed that too!! The conversion rate from signing up for the next round, to the actual unlocking of Narrative, to setting up the actual profile needs to be improved upon. Perhaps more marketing on the email reminder to build more hype that people are about to be let into the platform. Something needs to be enticing to get people to actually come to the platform once the round has opened up to them. @Melanie Mathos ??

There are people who have deleted their accounts, as well. I doubt that explains the total number of members unaccounted for, but it would explain part of it.

Re: Rate of opening up new rounds on Alpha!

We are pretty pleased with the amount of people who have signed up in these early days-it takes a lot of vision and a touch of early adopteritis to help build something. (As you know!) We've taken this opportunity during the Alpha period to strategically test out some marketing channels in preparation for our beta launch. We've been able to prove and improve upon our Cost Per Acquisition, which has been great. When we launched the Claim Your Spot campaign, we committed to email smartly and...
