On Sept. 6, I posted a Labor Day Road Trip containing several smartphone photos of historic landmarks. I posted it to three niches (Photo Stories, Smartphone Photography, and Travel). It got 9 upvotes in 9 days. This morning, I posted one photo with one sentence of text and posted it to one niche (Mobile Photos). It's already got 11 upvotes, and one person thinks I have a beautiful dashboard (it's dirty as hell).

Different audience and no accounting for taste?
I'll limit my comment to this: only a blind could not see.
Mobile Photos is currently number 3 in the top-posted niches. It's easy to assume that it has a far bigger following.
The small difference between Smartphone Photography and Mobile Photos is still a bit dubious. Almost all mobile phones are considered smartphones nowadays.
Not sure if you're being funny about the user commenting on your dashboard, I know you have a dry sense of humor But Nolok left out the word 'from' in their comment. And, it actually is an interesting view, when not considering your dashboard lol
Possible, @Slaz, but Mobile Photos has 746 qualifying posts (August), while the other 3 niches have a total of 1015 qualifying posts, even if in part overlapping. I would consider the exposure (in the dubious assumption that the number of posts in the niches can be considered a metric of exposure) not significantly favorable to Mobile Photos.
The key point here, in my opinion, is that while the first story is a full story that narrates an interesting trip, the second post is just a single quick photo of a car dashboard and a river that most here (likely, upvoters included) don't even know, pulled out of a good story. This is where Narrative is going, and this speaks volumes about a number of issues that I don't even start to mention here but that are in the sunlight.

Yes, exactly.
