Can we *PLEASE* get a better post editor for the New Post section?

Service: Narrative

The post editor here, that I am using now to write this... This works.

In contrast, I just spent 5 minutes trying to get the little black circle to appear on the side of the New Post section of the main site.

Whatever bizarre script you have running there defies all UX and usability rules and standards.

I agree, the editor is terrible.

Frankly, I don't know why they bothered to build it.  I would have simply plugged in Tiny MCE.  It's intuitive, easy to use, and extensible.  I've brought up Tiny MCE post pages in a day.

Another option I would consider is the Gutenberg editor, which was released as part of WordPress 5.0.  It's a modern, block oriented editor - similar to the current Narrative post editor - but it has a much larger set of base components, and an architecture that allows easy extension.  It's open source, and if I were on the development team, I would had taken a long look at how easy or difficult it would be to incorporate it into the platform.

As it is, I think we're going to have a long wait before the Narrative post editor is competitive.

I was with you until this.  I am firmly in the NO camp on Automatics creation of Gutenberg.

I get what they are trying to do.  They don't want people to be able to do full on HTML in the editor so posts all have similar specs.

Still.. with Tiny MCE you can lock down what portions are usable.  The "editor" they have now is just a hamfisted piece of junk.
