Congratulations on the fine work - design and execution.

So much of the usability is improved now: it was a pleasure to suggest a new niche and vote!

And I chuckled at this phrase on the profile page:

"Existentially this is who you are. Whoa."

I was lucky and had no log in issues.  Everything has been fully functional so far: I'll be sure to let you know if any weirdness pops up.

I think it is official now...  For the past couple of months it was tangible that you have assembled a great team.  Now you've put before us all something concrete to show for it, and it confirms my suspicions: you are a force to be reckoned with.

I hope you are all celebrating and furiously patting each other on the back - while plotting your next updates to the alpha.

Oh, and another thing.  We're already starting to see some great workflow that I suspect will only grow as we move towards Beta.  I just upvoted a niche, then right there and then clicked on the niche suggester to see if she had anything else interesting for me to vote on.  Her activity stream was a one stop shop for browsing more niches to vote on, as all her suggestions showed up transparently in the stream.  Great work flow because browsing the suggested niches of someone you have already appreciated one niche from is a step above random browsing of all niches subject to approval.

The same could go for faulty niches - working on the suspicion that someone who has submitted a faulty niche might have submitted other faulty niches, one can browse their stream to try to catch them... or to be pleasantly surprised by better niches they have suggested, that one can upvote.

These more efficient workflows are a big part of what makes a site sticky.  I am much more likely to come back and vote on a regular basis now, because I have a workflow that suits me, and that feels efficient and kind of fun: discovering people's activity streams feels a little like getting a feel for the community.

@Malkazoid Thanks for the kind words!

I agree that creating an enjoyable flow is key. Having an active community is the lifeblood of this platform, so naturally we want everyone to keep coming back to participate.

One concept we were also kicking around is moving a "ballot card" upon voting and placing it in a "my votes" tab. This would speed up your personal work flow and keep actionable items at the top of the list and in front of the user. Think Tinder, but for Niches (hmmmm....new slogan, @Melanie Mathos?).

Obviously Narrative's "final form" is far from complete, but this UI was purposefully designed for scalability. We never want it to feel convoluted or cramped and we are actively trying to think 3 steps ahead to keep things clean and intuitive.

Again, we all really appreciate the uplifting comment. Just know, the team is working tirelessly to build a platform you all can be proud of!

I love the idea of separating already voted on Niches vs items that still need a vote.  It is quite frustrating having to search through the pages for an item that doesn't have the thumbs up / down highlighted.

I was gone for a while and when I saw this facelift, I was literally awed at the makeover!

AMAZING!

Only thing is, can we a something little to all those "lowercases" in the nav bar. Mainly the 'hq" doesn't look nice!

Welcome back! Appreciate your feedback and shared it with the design team.

I'd say everything seems fine. I'm on mobile with low bandwidth. This is interesting in a point that even on low connection it went relatively ok.

Fast loading site always good to surf. Specially if the site tends to have loads of content.

Hope this would work for years to come.

Thanks for the feedback, CNorg! We are building to scale, so speed is certainly a priority for us.

All the new look/design is coming along great. But now since the beta is put off till next year 2019 what are we doing with the extra time needed?

Thanks - will share with our design team! Here is a breakdown of what's next from Brian's blogpost:

Here’s what you can expect leading up to beta launch:

December 2018

Network Stats Overview
This release will add a section to Narrative HQ that features the following stats: number of members, monthly active users (MAU), Network Rewards pool balance, purchased Niches, approved Niches, and number of Niche Owners. Post beta release, we’ll continue to build out this section to include additional insight into the health of the community, including a deeper dive into Network Rewards and economic performance.

Reputation
Work is well underway on building the reputation engine for Narrative. This release will feature the display of each member’s reputation and reputation-adjusted result values for votes. Right now in the alpha, voting is not adjusted based on user reputation. Once reputation is released, your vote’s impact will be adjusted based on your reputation. User reputations will retroactively account for past actions taken on the alpha.

January 2019

Content Drafting
This release will feature the ability for Narrators to start creating content on the platform. Content creators will be able to draft and pre-publish content so that it will go live automatically when the beta launches in March. Content creation is a major step toward beta, as it will allow Narrators to pre-seed the platform with content before the launch.

February 2019

KYC and Onboarding
This release will feature an optional Know Your Customer (KYC) verification process. Narrators can choose to become KYC verified in order to confirm their identity and date of birth. 20% of a Narrator’s reputation score is based on KYC verification, so there is incentive to become verified. Additionally, once KYC verified, users who are 18 years old and older will optionally have access to adult-oriented content on the platform. In order to protect children, Narrators who are not KYC verified will not be able to access adult-oriented content.

Additionally, this release will introduce the official onboarding flow. Included in this will be the collection of registration information, profile customization, and the ability to select Niches you’re interested in following.

March 2019

Beta Launch!
The beta release will include all of the core functionality required for viewing content, viewing content streams, as well as engagement through rating and commenting on content. With the beta launch, the waitlist program will be concluded and registrations will be opened to the world.
