Welcome to the latest round of invites, and the niches y'all are suggesting and bidding on!

Niche suggestions were becoming stagnant, and it's really exciting to see new narrators getting right down to business! Here are a few quick tips for suggesting niches and voting to approve or reject them:

  1. Use the search function to make sure the niche you want to suggest doesn't already exist. Search for synonyms just to be safe so you're niche suggestion doesn't get rejected for being redundant. (Don't feel bad if this happens. There's a bit of a learning curve here.) You can also check before voting on a niche to see if it's already covered.
  2. Be precise and thorough in your niche name and description before suggesting a niche. As I type this up, there are a few examples of great names and descriptions (often voted 100% accept) and a few examples of bad ones - often notable by the votes to reject and the presence of comments.
  3. If you see that a suggested niche has comments on it, it's best to read them before voting. This will help you make an informed vote, and it will also help you see what "older" users use as criteria for voting.

When you go to https://alpha.narrative.org/hq you should see a SUGGEST NICHE button near the top of the screen.

Once you come up with a unique name and description and submit your suggestion, other members will vote to approve or reject your niche. Once you have enough votes for your niche to be approved, it will go to auction. You do not have to bid on every niche you suggest, but if you want to, you can.

Bidding starts at whatever amount of NRVE is equivalent to $75 (USD) at the time of your bid. If you are the winning bidder, you have a limited amount of time to pay for it either in NRVE (it can take time to buy NRVE if you are new to cryptocurrency like I was) or in USD. If you pay in USD, there is a 15% convenience fee added to the amount of your winning bid. Depending on what has happened to the price of NRVE in the meantime, the 15% fee might end up being the better deal, especially if you're trying to buy NRVE at the last moment.

In the top right corner you'll see your profile. If you select that you can then click Notifications.  On that page you can click suspend all notifications and you will receive no future mailings from these forums.

Just to be clear, you do not have to purchase a Niche to participate in Narrative. And you don't have to buy anything to participate either.  There is no cost if you do not want to own a Niche of your own.  You can actually make money if you are a content generator, or a moderator, when we reach the point of being live.
