Young hearts

Hello Community,

I would like to hear people's thoughts about how Narrative will be perceived by various demographics.

In particular, the 16 - 24 years old demographic.

We all know this is an important group to be on page with as they are a huge chunk of our potential audience.

What I am most concerned with is look and feel, as well as how the platform will be marketed.  I am hoping the @Narrative Network Team have a plan to communicate well with this demographic, and get them to feel Narrative is an exciting space for them to jump into.

Getting content that will appeal to the younger crowd should be as simple as attracting younger content creators and niche owners.  We have to do this from the very beginning, or stigma will set in.  This happens very fast - people decide with lightning speed whether a site or a network is right for their age group.  If the younger audience decides that Narrative is 古臭い (furukusai: slang Japanese for 'stinks of old'), there will almost certainly be no coming back from it.

Can the Team please let us know how many people under 25 are part of the @Narrative Network Team?  Communicating with this age group can't be faked - we need at least one, finger-on-the-pulse person who lives and breathes it because he or she is of it.

Yep...total agreement. I believe there was a bit of discussion about this on a post earlier...but it didn't go anywhere and I don't think it was addressed by the @Narrative Network Team.

I feel the platform looks and feels like it is directed to a demographic 35- 55 years old. Serves me well. But I too have brought up how important it is that we look appealing to the youthful market.

Personally I love how Social X is marketing themselves. Fanfare too.

I think I mentioned in my post along this line, but it bares repeating Melanie does by appearance seem to be in this age demographic. Lots of eyes on her these days to see what she comes up with. :-)

Hey Emily

I agree Narrative feels like it is directed at 35-55 year olds.

Without directly asking Melanie's age - it would be great to receive confirmation that someone is 25 or under.

Thanks for bringing Social X to my attention.  Their name is edgier than Narrative, certainly.  The feel of their site too.

But to be honest, the thing that really stings is their roadmap.

https://socialx.network/roadmap/

We have nothing remotely resembling a roadmap shared with the community.

Granted, their roadmap isn't actually particularly informative, if you look closely, but it is extremely gratifying that there is one at all... hint hint, nudge nudge, pinch pinch @Narrative Network Team

EDIT: my bad - discovered the roadmap by scrolling way down on the narrative.network main page.  A link somewhere at the top, to jump to it, would be helpful as I'm not sure how many people are seeing it down there.

yea! I have the same view as you! definitely within the range of 30-35 and above!

Just my view, it would be good if the team can come forward to verify.

Not to worry, we have had this same discussion in the Narrative office.  It is an important demographic to address at the onset.  Glad to see you all feel similarly.   Feel free to point out other sites  or apps or companies as examples. While we want a fresh look and feel of our own, inspiration for characteristics and other qualities are always appreciated.

Woohoo!

Great to hear.

Whilst hiring decisions are your own, and you also don't have to tell us whether you've got someone under 25 on the team - I nevertheless will assume you have heard that specific concern as well.  It is easy to imagine we understand other generations enough to communicate well with them, but the truth is there will ALWAYS be a gap, and nothing can replace having that generation representing itself within a team.

Thanks!

Hello!  I'm in the 16-20 year age range. Is there anything specific you guys want to know my thoughts on regarding the platform?

Visually, I think it's okay. Nothing special, a bit below par, hard to use on a smartphone (although I saw that an app is planned for the future).  I'm having trouble pinpointing anything specific.

Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

Welcome B!

I'd say speak up about everything you feel needs improving!

The Team is quite good at collecting the thoughts put forth here - and if you remind them once or twice of the demographic you represent, they'll probably remember it from then on and it will help them in their deliberations.

I look forward to your input!  I'm sure it will help the process of making Narrative a great platform.
